France opposes UN Sudan sanctions

From The BBC

Just like they did in Iraq and now thanks to the unraveling of the UN oil-for-food scandal, we know why France opposed those sanctions against Iraq.

Turns out, just as in Iraq, France has a large stake in Sudan oil.

France led opposition to US moves at the UN over Iraq. As was the case in Iraq, France also has significant oil interests in Sudan.

And from InstaPundit we get this observation of BBC stealth editing.

For what it's worth, the BBC did change their story. I have a copy:

It's now: "France led opposition to US moves at the UN over Iraq. As was the case in Iraq, it also has significant oil interests in Sudan."

It was: "France led opposition to US moves at the UN over Iraq, and as in Iraq the US also has significant oil interests in Sudan."

And it has changed, thankfully more accurately, to say "France also has significant oil interests in Sudan"

It took the BBC three times to get the story right. But how many people read the first report and are left with eroneous idea that the US is the one with significant oil interests in Sudan?

Sloppy reporting or anti-American policy at the BBC? We have proved conclusively, on this blog and others, that the latter is the case.
