Iran to aid Syria against threats

The BBC reports "Iran has vowed to back Syria against "challenges and threats" as both countries face strong US pressure. "

Washington is considering new sanctions against Syria because of its refusal to withdraw its 14,000 troops from Lebanon.

Convenient of the BBC not to mention all the UN resolutions calling for Syria to leave Lebanon. Why is it we never hear the left calling for Syria's occupation of Lebanon to end?

But Syrian Expatriate Affairs Minister Buthaina Shaaban said she was "baffled" by the US reaction to the killing.

"To point to Syria in a terrorist act that aims at destabilising both Syria and Lebanon is truly like blaming the US for 9/11," she told the BBC.

The minister said Mr Hariri had been a "great ally" to Syria and his death was "a scandal against Syria and against Lebanon".

The BBC are happy to print this amazing quote without so much as a raised eyebrow. Probably because the BBC agree with her.

I won't even touch the 9/11 quote which is beyond the pale. But Hariri was not a great ally to Syria. Far from it. In fact he was seeking re-election on a platform to get Syria out of Lebanon.

Having fallen in and out of favor with Damascus over the years, he had recently joined calls by the opposition for Syrian troops to leave Lebanon in the run-up to a general election in May.

The BBC - mouthpiece for terrorist propaganda.
