Syria - Underestimating Bush

Syria and Iran still underestimate Bush and it may be too late. The timing of their announcement is not a random choice of dates. Bush forced their hand with the elections in Iraq. Ordinary Syrians and Iranians had to watch as expat Iraqis cast their votes in free democratic elections. Those elections are over and the fuse is lit. Lebanon is the first bomb to go off.

The Belmont Club has a must read on the situation.

More and more the UN and old Europe look they are locked in a time warp back in World War II while Bush looks more like a Jedi master from star wars. Free elections in Afghanistan, Iraq, the Ukraine and for the Palestinians. Presidents and Prime Ministers everywhere. Democracy spreading like the Star Trek Genesis project.

Syria and Iran's actions show they still underestimate George Bush. Let's hope the Syrian and Iranian people don't and rise up and throw off the tyrants mantle.
