America - Democratic Senator Calls Troops "Nazis"

Michelle Malkin has a great round up of the blog swarm forming over the outrageous comments by Democratic Senator, Dick Durbin.

One blogger called other Democratic Senators to get their reaction to his comments. As you read their comments, remember, they say the are against the war in Iraq but support our troops.

Ted Kennedy 202-224-4543...."Not quite sure, I'll have to check on that." Not quite sure?

Joe Lieberman 202-224-4041...."Mr. Lieberman has no comment at all." Really?

John Kerry 202-224-2742...."Sen. Kerry doesn't have a position on Sen. Durbin's comments." Why doesn't this surprise me?

This is your United States Senate at work. Proud?

And then you have Eason Jordan and Linda Foley making unsubstantiated and slanderous claims that our troops are targeting journalists.

If this is their idea of supporting our troops they can keep their support.

UPDATE

Likewise, the media are always spouting off about how they too support the troops. Their silence over Durbin's and Foley's remarks shows otherwise.

One newspaper has spoken up though - The Boston Herald.

The second highest ranking Democrat in the Senate has compared American servicemen and women to Nazis on the floor of that body. Has political debate sunk so low that a comment that hideous can be made by Sen. Richard Durbin (D-Ill.) without repercussions?

Sen. Trent Lott (R-Miss.) lost his leadership position for the lesser if still odious offense of praising Strom Thurmond's presidential campaign which had taken place decades earlier.

``If I read this ... and did not tell you that it was an FBI agent describing what Americans had done to prisoners in their control, you would most certainly believe this must have been done by Nazis, Soviets in their gulags, or some mad regime - Pol Pot or others,'' Durbin said of Guantanamo ``abuses'' like ratcheting up the air conditioning in detainees' cells.

When Amnesty International makes such comparisons it irreversibly damages its credibility. When a U.S. senator does so, he damages the institution and the country he serves.

Durbin must go.

No comment so far from John Kerry's newspapers, The Boston Globe, New York Times or LA Times.
