Britain - Era of Innocence Ends

Daniel Pipes writes about something I'be been saying for a long time.

Britain for too long a time has tolerated Muslims who advocate violence. Even London's Mayor, Ken Livingstone, invited radical Sheikh Yousef Al-Qaradhawi to London with open arms.

Many of Al-Qaradhawi's sermons contain religious supplications directed against the U.K. and the U.S. For example, in a sermon on March 7, 2003 from the Umar Bin-al-Khattab mosque in Doha: "O God, destroy the Zionist, the American, and the British aggressors. O God, shake the ground under them and protect us from them."

Up until now Britain's tolerance of such people meant that an attack on Britain's mainland was not likely. All that changed back in January this year when I posted this.

LONDON, Jan. 10 (UPI) -- Muslims living in Britain are facing two choices; either to migrate or to join the jihad, a key Islamic figure has said.

Sheikh Omar Bakri Muhammed, leader of the now officially disbanded Islamic militant group Al Muhajiroun told United Press International Saturday that as the covenant of security under which Muslims previously lived in Britain has been broken, Muslims must now consider themselves at war.

"And I declare we should ourselves join the global Islamic camp against the global crusade camp," he said.

Pipes concludes:

In a less-guarded moment, however, Omar Bakri Mohammed acknowledged that for him, “the life of an unbeliever has no value.”

Yesterday’s explosions mark the end of the “covenant of security.” Let’s hope they also mark the end of an era of innocence, and that British authorities now begin to preempt terrorism rather than wait to become its victims.

Will Britain now reconsider the religious hate law, terrorist detention law, Muslim appeasment and its policy of tolerating the likes of Bakri and Hamza the hook?
