Katrina - BBC Reporting a National Disgrace

Biased BBC and Americn Expat have already commented on this anti-American tirade by BBC reporter Matt Wells, reporting from "... the workout room of the condo where I am currently staying in the affluent LA neighbourhood of Santa Monica,..."

It is a pretty disgusting piece of high school trash writing and the fact that the BBC editors allowed it to be published shows their anti-American bias.

I would like to point out one glaring error Wells "reports".

The havoc of Katrina had been predicted countless times on a local and federal level - even to the point where it was acknowledged that tens of thousands of the poorest residents would not be able to leave the city in advance.

No official plan was ever put in place for them
.

Wells, being the typical incompetent BBC reporter, doesn't bother to learn the facts. Note this is from the Louisiana Emergency Operations Plan which is in PDF format.

"The primary means of hurricane evacuation will be personal vehicles. School and municipal buses, government-owned vehicles and vehicles provided by volunteer agencies may be used to provide transportation for individuals who lack transportation and require assistance in evacuating."

As you can clearly see from this photograph, the mayor failed to follow the plan - the plan Wells says doesn't exist.

Please help the victims of the Katrina disaster by donating to the Red Cross Katrina relief fund. Their donation page is here.

NZ Bear is keeping track of which blog people contributed through, and if you have the time please stop by there and register your donation.

Thanks.
