Terrorism is the use of violence and intimidation to achieve political ends.
Terrorists want to change the way governments and politicians behave.
They do not do this by voting or by trying to convince people of their arguments.
They do it by frightening people into behaving the way the terrorists want.
So, why doesn't the BBC use "terrorist" and "terrorism" in their reporting to adults?
And you'll love their "Who is al Qaeda"?
Al-Qaeda are a group of people who work together to plan acts like bombings. Because of this they are classed as a terrorist organisation by the UK government.
Members are followers of Islam but they have very extreme beliefs that are different from Muslims living in Britain.
Well they're certainly not classed as a terrorist organisation by the BBC, that's for sure. In fact, remember the "Power of Nightmares"? According to the BBC al Qaeda doesn't even exist!
As far as having "beliefs that are different from Muslims living in Britain", the 7/7 Muslim terrorists and the failed 21/7 Muslim terrorists were British born and bred.
And what of al Qaeda's purpose?
Al-Qaeda hope that their attacks will make Western countries treat Muslims differently in areas like the Middle East, the Balkans and Chechnya.
Er, no. They want to drive the infidels out of those places altogether and they don't want to stop there; France, Denmark and the rest of Europe are learning that the hard way.
