Iraq - BBC Lies about election results

Once again the BBC can be counted on to lie to you. I'll get to the lying part in a minute but first...

Have you ever noticed that when the media report on good news from Iraq they always throw in some un-related bad news, just so you don't forget.

Here the AP put in a note about a downed helicopter and an attack on a convoy that is totally unrelated to the story their reporting on.

The BBC do exactly the same thing in their report about the election results. Notice how they wedge the bad news inbetween the good news about the elections?

Before we get to where the BBC are lying to you, read this:

It is hoped that such a coalition will draw the sting from the insurgency, he says.

But one senior Shia politician has already expressed his doubts about that, and Iraq has, over the past three years, seen many false dawns.

Such as? Let's see, Saddam was toppled, a government was formed, a constitution was written and then ratified, and this election marks the third national election in one year with voter turn out increasing with each election. That's a feat most western countries would be pressed to beat. But the BBC just can't stand for success in Iraq, no sir.

Now for the lying part.

Allegations levelled at the conduct of the election include:

The stuffing of ballot boxes and theft, tally sheet tampering, incorrect voter lists and multiple voting

Improper police and military conduct [such as? we are not told. .ed]

Campaigning within polling centres and violations of a pre-election ban on campaigning. [Wow! I'm unimpressed .ed]

The observers did not reach any final judgement was made on whether the poll was free and fair.

The charges of voting problems are true but what the BBC doesn't tell you is they made up just two-thirds of 1 percent of the total vote. 2/3 of 1%!!

As for if the elections were free and fair...

Iraq's electoral commission ruled Monday that more than 99 percent of the ballots from the Dec. 15 parliamentary elections are valid, opening the way for a new government to start coming together.

Just add this to the case against the lying BBC.
