Islam bans any depiction of Muhammad or Allah.

So? Islam may ban it but, at least for now, Islam doen't rule the world or make the rules for the world.

There were street protests both in Denmark and in Muslim countries following the publication of the cartoons.

The BBC forgot to mention it was Muslims protesting in Denmark.

Good on the Danes for standing up to Muslims. Britain would do well to do some of the same.
