US - Media Blinded by hate of Bush

The other day I pointed out how the New York Times hatred of Bush is so pronounced they used the recent mine tragedy to attack Bush. They tried to imply that Bush was responsible for the tragedy and that his appointments were endangering miners safety. When in fact mine safety has never been better.

Contrary to what The Times would have you believe, the trend has been favorable (”reassuring,” if you will) for many years, especially the past four, where there has been a near-50% drop in fatalities. In fact, these results support the contention that staffing Interior with people who actually know their industry has led to greater safety.

Tim Blair reports the same thing from the Sydney Morning Herald’s Andrew West.

George Bush extended condolences to the families of the 12 coal miners killed in a disaster in West Virginia yesterday. Yeah, like he cares.

West’s evidence for this view:

Just take a look at his record on supporting workplace safety ... the Bush White House has systemically run down the very government agency responsible for enforcing safety in these most dangerous of workplaces ... Literally within days of taking up his appointment as president, he began dismantling the Clinton administration’s presidential directives protecting the nation’s workers. Now his administration’s negligence has manifested itself in the most tragic of ways.

Once again someone pointed out that mine safety is far better under Bush than Clinton.

But as Tim says:

West has made a damning error through shallow research. Yeah, like he cares.

The media are so blinded by their hate they'll say anthing. If that doesn't work they just fake stories.

Just the other day one of the media's Democratic poster boys, Ted Kennedy, said Alito wasn't fit to be on the Supreme Court, claiming Alito was affected by "the Goldwater presidentcy".

Goldwater was never president and Alito was just 14 during that election.
