Islam - Women as second class: myth

That's according to this Muslim woman living in Australia.

Nadia might want to visit Saudi Arabia where women can't drive, go out without a male relative and need their husband's permission to report spouse abuse.

Or visit any number of Muslims countries where women are resticted from voting or holding office.

Or, perhaps she should talk to the Taliban who bar women from schools and jobs.

I'm sure a lot of women in arranged marriages would like to talk to Nadia, as would the victims of so called "honour murders".

Guess who's fault this is? Go on, guess. Yep it's our fault.

So who is to blame for the misconceptions about women in Islam today, and for the unsatisfactory reality? To say it is the fault of men or the media is tempting, but simplistic. Islam is not the problem. People have made it the problem.

Sorry, Nadia but the facts speak otherwise.
