Here is what the organizers say the march is about.
The strength and survival of free society and the advance of human knowledge depend on the free exchange of ideas. All ideas are capable of giving offence, and some of the most powerful ideas in human history, such as those of Galileo and Darwin, have given profound religious offence in their time. The free exchange of ideas depends on freedom of expression and this includes the right to criticise and mock. We assert and uphold the right of freedom of expression and call on our elected representatives to do the same. We abhor the fact that people throughout the world live under mortal threat simply for expressing ideas and we call on our elected representatives to protect them from attack and not to give comfort to the forces of intolerance that besiege them.
But already Muslims are up in arms denouncing the march and trying to tie it to the BNP.
Others are expressing similar concerns.
I have no doubt that there will be some elements that will try to use the march to further their own agenda. But I doubt it will be as bad as the communists take over of the anti-war movement.
Whether we like it or not pressure is building and it appears Muslims and the media are doing very little to diffuse the situation.
For example, the Muslim Association of Britain and the Muslim Council of Britain are regularly touted as the voice of moderate Islam in Britain. This despite the terror links to both groups. See here for the MAB and here for the MCB.
And while UK Muslims took to the streets in their tens of thousands to protest over the Muhammad cartoons, there were no similar protests after the 7/7 UK Muslim terror attacks and the failed 21/7 attacks on Britions. Seems they only protest when they feel they are being attacked.
And now we learn that UK Muslims planned similar attacks more than a year before the 7/7 bombings.
Add to all this Muslim attempts to convert Britain into an Islamic state.
People are also becoming increasingly aware of Islam's intolerance to gays, other faiths and their abuse of women's rights. Issues the Left remain glaringly silent on.
Recent postings on the BBC's "Have Your Say" webpage show the increasing frustration of the British public.
Even the Prime Minister is starting to talk more bluntly.
He told the audience at a Reuters event that religious extremism - including the term Islamist extremism - should be labelled as such.
"It will give offence. It is true. It will," he said.
But he said Muslims who committed acts of terrorism were no more true to their faith than the "Protestant bigot" who murdered Catholics in Northern Ireland.
"But unfortunately he is still a Protestant bigot. To say his religion is irrelevant is both completely to misunderstand his motive and to refuse to face up the strain of extremism within his religion that has given rise to it."
He also had this little nuanced outlook.
"This is not a clash between civilisations, but a clash about civilisation," he said.
Others are more blunt and are calling it a clash between civilisations.
One thing no one can deny is that it is a clash and it will remain so until Islam is reformed.
