Iraq - The defeat of Zarqawi

Is edging closer and closer.

You won't see this in Western MSM.

AMMAN: Iraq's resistance has replaced Jordanian-born Abu Musab al-Zarqawi as political head of the rebels, confining him to a military role, the son of Osama bin Laden's mentor said Sunday in Jordan.

"The Iraqi resistance's high command asked Zarqawi to give up his political role and replaced him with an Iraqi, because of several mistakes he made," said Hudayf Azzam, who claims close contacts with the rebels.

And what were those mistakes?

He said Zarqawi "made many political mistakes," including "the creation of an independent organization, Al-Qaeda in Iraq."

"Zarqawi also took the liberty of speaking in the name of the Iraqi people and resistance, a role which belongs only to the Iraqis," Azzam said.

This comes after every terrorists group in Iraq turned against him.

All of this has forced Zarqawi to stop targeting Americans. Which in turn has led to a steady drop in US casualties since November last year. Something MSM are decidely ignoring.

Remember, Zarqawi's goal is to get the US out of Iraq. Now, listen to this logic.

While monthly U.S. casualties have been falling since November, attacks on Iraqi forces are escalating as Zarqawi attempts to undermine efforts to build up the army and security forces, Lynch said.

"The number of attacks against Iraqi security force members has increased 35 percent in the last four weeks compared to the previous six months," said Lynch.

"That is by design. The enemy knows the Iraqi security forces are increasing in capability."

A U.S. troop pullout is contingent on the performance of Iraqi troops, who have watched suicide bombers kill thousands of their comrades.

Got that? If Iraqi security forces become capable of security in Iraq, US forces will leave. But Zarqawi is trying to stop the build up of Iraqi security forces and thus delay the departure of US troops. Why? Because he knows a stable Iraq free of US troops will be his and al Qaeda's ultimate humiliation. They lost Afghanistan and to lose Iraq would show the Muslim world what a lost cause al Qaeda truly is.
