US - Another Kennedy cover up?

Michelle has been all over this story. See here, here, here, and here.

All four have links to much more. Including a call for Kennedy to resign over at "Screw them" Kos!

One thing that stands out for me, is Kennedy claims he can't remember the incident at all, even though he gave a statement to the police. On top of that, Kennedy adamantly claims he had no alcohol that night. If he can't remember the incident at all how can he know whether he drank or not?

The American Thinker notes Kennedy has a long history of drug problems including cocaine.

Kennedy’s past includes several troubling episodes, starting with his treatment in 1986 for cocaine use. More recently, a charter company accused him of causing $28,000 in damage to a rented yacht in 2000. That same year, he acknowledged that he was “on a lot of different medications for, among other things, depression,” and was accused of shoving an airport security guard at Los Angeles International Airport when she tried to make him check his bag.He was in a traffic incident last month in his home district, according to Boston Herald columnist Howie Carr, who reported that the mishap occurred as Kennedy was hurrying into the parking lot of a pharmacy in Portsmouth, R.I.

Must have needed those drugs in a hurry; was he "doctor shopping"?

The American Thinker also notes this now becomes a real problem for Cynthia McKinney. Of course in her case she can continue to play the race card. But it will be interesting to hear what she has to say about Kennedy.

UPDATE

And if Kennedy was so incapacitated as not even remember the entire incident, how was he able to quote an obscure law that prevents "members of Congress from being arrested while en route to formal sessions..."?

And wouldn't one phone call have proved to the police that Congress was not in session at the time?
