UK - Muslim terror plot: Where's the evidence?

Islamists and their left wing supporters are not only asking that question, they're openly saying this is a political stunt by Bush and Blair. Islamist supporters and the left will believe it because they want to believe anything that is anti-Bush or Blair - no matter how far fetched; the majority of Britians and a good number of Americans believe 9/11 was an inside job.

These people point to a few high profile cases that did not produce any results and will ignore the Muslim terror plots that have been foiled and the trial of 7 Muslims currently underway. Interesting how the media have lost interest in that one.

So, what evidence do we have so far on this Muslim terror plot to blow up airplanes? With the investigation still ongoing, the authorities are relutant to give out much, but we know this much:

MI5 agents secretly infiltrated a bomb factory and found liquid explosives and detonators weeks before they foiled the plot to blow up America-bound passenger jets flying from British airports.

The covert raids on homes of key terror suspects were also used to plant bugs and gather hours of crucial evidence against them.
[...]

Tiny eavesdropping devices picked up conversations involving various members of the suspected terrorist gang as they put the finishing touches to their plans to blow up a series of commercial flights over the Atlantic.

During months of careful work, the specialists are understood to have managed to get inside the gang's bomb-making factory - giving final confirmation that the plotters were indeed planning mass murder.
[...]

Intelligence sources last night indicated that some of the bomb-making chemicals and equipment being used by the gang had been seen 'in situ' but could not be removed or replaced without raising suspicion.

Then there's the Pakistan connection where several arrests were made there. It was these arrests that triggered the arrests here in the UK. And note this:

The New York Times reported yesterday that one former Pakistani official close to intelligence officials in Pakistan said Jamaat-ud-Dawa provided the money that was to be used to buy plane tickets for the suspects to conduct a dry run and the actual attacks.
The New York Times has more on this:

In recent days, he said, plotters began investigating nonstop flights from Britain to the United States. An American counter-terrorism official said they planned “a dry run” in the next couple of days and, if they could get on several flights at the same time, planned to carry out the attack within days.

The hijackers of Sept. 11, 2001, also did meticulous research on airline schedules and took numerous rehearsal trips in the United States.

In addition, there was a report that the group had been infliltrated by the security services.

Further, another 15 people have been arrested in Pakistan.

For the left to calim there is no evidence that there ever was such a plot simply isn't true. We need to wait and see what comes out at the trial. But that's not good enough for the left who want to politicize our security.
