Australia - Muslim advisors threaten riots over government policy

This sound familiar?

THE chairman of the government's Islamic advisory committee has warned of more Cronulla-style riots unless the Prime Minister tones down his comments on Muslim migrants.

Prime Minister John Howard sparked a backlash in some sections of Australia's Muslim community by saying Muslim migrants needed to conform to Australian values by learning English and treating women with respect.

But the head of the government's new Muslim advisory committee, Dr Ameer Ali, warned of trouble unless the Mr Howard backed down.

Yes how dare Prime Minister of Australia ask Muslims to integrate into Australian society?

I wonder what made them more mad, speaking English or having to treat their women with respect?

Muslim MPs here in Britain recently tried the same thing over the UK's foreign policy going so far as to demand Britain adopt Islamic law. They were politely shown the door and told they could also leave by the door to the country if they wished to live under Islamic law. Muslims in Australia were recently told the same thing.

UPDATE

As a commenter pointed out, it wasn't a British Muslim MP who called for Britain to adopt Islamic law, that call was made by Dr Syed Aziz Pasha of the Union of Muslim Organisations of the UK & Ireland.

But it was Muslim British MPs who implied that more violence would come if Britain didn't change its foriegn policy.
