Deputy Commissioner Kieran Walshe, the former head of the state's counter-terrorism unit, had some interesting things to say.
"One of the lessons that I've picked up coming out of the UK is the need for us to continue to build that relationship and that engagement with the community … so that no community, whether they be Muslim or whatever faith or political background, should feel alienated in Australia," Mr Walshe said.
"We are a multicultural society and we should make sure that everybody feels part of that society."
Well, one of the more obvious lessons Walshe didn't learn while visiting the UK, is that multiculturalism is dead. Further, Austrualian leaders, including the PM, have stated publicly that if Muslims want to live under Islamic law they should leave.
And this bit of denial takes the biscuit.
"Can I say, certainly without being alarmist … that we have been very, very fortunate in this country.
"We have not had an attack on home soil," he said.
Well I'm sure that's a comfort to tourists. And tell that to the families of the 89 victims of the Bali Muslim terror attack.
Morons like Walshe will get you killed.
