The BBC denies this Daily Mail report.
Now there are several things I find interesting about Helen's denial, not least of which if flies in the face of all the well documented evidence to the contrary.
First off, why is this denial buried down here in the editors blog? If, as Helen maintains, the media got it all wrong, why isn't this on the BBC's main website? Why hasn't the BBC issued a denial or rebutted the Mail on television? These are serious allegations and if the Mail is making false allegations one would have thought it news worthy enough for the front page.
Helen challenges the Mail's assertion that the meeting was secret when in fact, she claims, the meeting was streamed over the Internet. If that's true why isn't there a link to the stream on the BBC's website? I asked Helen that question and asked her if it was streamed on the open Internet or on the BBC's internal intranet. If it was the latter then, as far as you and I are concerned, the meeting was secret. Helen has so far failed to respond.
Notice in her rebuttal, Helen never challenges the Mails points, except for the part about the meeting being "secret". She says she disagrees with her co-workers and that the "reality" of the meeting was somewhat different than what was reported in the media. Not much of a denial then is it.
Bottom line, the media got the story right and the mountain of evidence backs that up.
