Richard Cohen Bumps Into Reality

Now, if more liberals would wake up and smell the coffee.

This is a good news, bad news column. The good news is that crime is again down across the nation -- in big cities, small cities, flourishing cities and cities that are not for the timid. Surprisingly, this has happened in the teeth of the Great Recession, meaning that those disposed to attribute criminality to poverty -- my view at one time -- have some strenuous rethinking to do. It could be, as conservatives have insisted all along, that crime is committed by criminals. For liberals, this is bad news indeed.

Only a liberal would say that reality if bad news. I've got more bad news for liberals, reality exists, get used to it.

Not many upsides to the Obama regime, but they are serving to illustrate the moral and intellectual bankruptcy and utter incompetence of the Left. Finally in a position to put their policies in place, they are stunned to discover that reality simply will not conform itself to their fundamentally flawed templates. As they fail, time after time, to live up to their promises or manage ongoing crises with even a shred of competence, it becomes increasingly difficult to blame Bush, and even the likes of Chris "Tingles" Matthews and MoDo can't avoid noticing.

  2. We have years of the Obama regime left and I shudder to think of the damage yet to be done.
