Proof of WMD stockpiles

The AP is typical of the reporting of this huge story. Look how they try and downplay the importance of this proof of WMDs:

Saddam's government only disclosed the testing and production after Iraqi weapons chief Lt. Gen. Hussein Kamel al-Majid, Saddam's son-in-law, defected in 1995. Saddam's government never declared any sarin or shells filled with sarin remained.

Close but not quite. In fact Saddam claimed they had destroyed all WMDs. Since he lied until his son-in-law defected and spilled the beans on his WMDs, why was the world so eager to believe him about destroying them.

Saddam's alleged stockpile of weapons of mass destruction was the Bush administration's chief stated reason for invading Iraq. U.S. weapons hunters have been unable to validate the prewar intelligence.

Some trace elements of mustard agent, an older type of chemical weapon, were detected in an artillery shell found in a Baghdad street this month, U.S. officials said previously. The shell also was believed to be from one of Saddam's old stockpiles.

The story goes from "alleged stockpile" to "from one of Saddam's old stockpiles". Now which is it? Either there are stockpiles of WMDs or there are not.

And if "The shell also was believed to be from one of Saddam's old stockpiles. " then doesn't that "validate the prewar intelligence"?

You can't have it both ways people. The evidence is indisputable. These shells came from Saddams WMD stockpiles and those stockpiles exist today. Question is, where are they? Stop asking if and start asking where.

The world media have been crying for Bush's blood over WMDs since the war began. Their silence is deafening now that they have been found.

Don't forget the Iraq link to the Jordan chemical attack.

The plot would have been more deadly than anything al Qaeda has done before, including the September 11 attacks, according to the Jordanian government.

[...]

"I took explosives courses, poisons high level, then I pledged allegiance to Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, to obey him without any questioning," Jayyousi said.

Jordanian intelligence suspects Jayyousi returned from Iraq in January after a meeting with al-Zarqawi in which they allegedly plotted to hit the three targets in Amman.

The media made a huge deal about the world intelligence services not connecting the dots prior to September 11. Hell when you paint them the Mona Lisa they can't see it.

The world media today is almost as bad as bin Laden himself.
