Britain - al Qaeda Planning Attack In US/UK

The Telegraph (UK) reports that there are al Qaeda sleeper cells planning attacks in the UK and US.

They have now revealed that Abu Faraj, who was once Osama bin Laden's personal assistant, is also in frequent contact with al Qa'eda members and supporters abroad, particularly in Britain and America. They have identified two people - both of whom are in British custody - as recipients of coded messages from Abu Faraj. [...]

"The coded messages deciphered recently have revealed to us that he was not only co-ordinating pre-election terrorist acts in the US, but had sent several messages to several militants in the UK in the last eight to 10 months . . . to share notes with them about future terror attacks in the UK," said an investigator who has seen the communications.

At least two of the British-based militants are believed to have travelled to Pakistan from London and met Abu Faraj to finalise details of attacks.

So, we have al Qaeda operatives planning attacks on the UK and they still call them militants instead of terrorists. What will they call them after they carry out an attack on the UK? Insurgents?

And why does the FBI claim it does not know of any al Qaeda sleeper cells in the US?

And for all the worry about Osama bin Laden's sleeper cells or agents in the United States, a secret FBI assessment concludes it knows of none.

The 32-page assessment says flatly, "To date, we have not identified any true 'sleeper' agents in the US," seemingly contradicting the "sleeper cell" description prosecutors assigned to seven men in Lackawanna, N.Y., in 2002.
