Iraq - UN Official Resigns Amid Scandal

Yesterday I posted about another UN official implicated in the widening UN oil for food scandal.

He resigned yesterday.

Alexander Yakovlev, a Russian who was a longtime U.N. employee, submitted his resignation Tuesday and U.N. officials accepted it Wednesday. The resignation was immediate.

But Yakovlev's decision to leave on his own terms will not stop the U.N. investigation into his activities, according to a statement from a spokesman for Secretary-General Kofi Annan.

As I said yesterday:

Despite the UN's stonewalling, Vocker's cover up and the democrats attempts to enable the continuing UN corruption by blocking Bolton's nomination, Claudia Rosett, continues to expose the corruption at the UN.
