Britain - Bombing: Who Dunnit?

No one seems to know, and that's worrying.

The New York Times reports unknown "authorities" suspect "...the plot was carried out by a sleeper cell of homegrown extremists rather than highly trained terrorists exported to Britain."

While The Telegraph (UK) reports "Police were last night searching for a foreign-based Islamic terrorist cell."

Britain has good reason to want this to be the work of a foreign based Islamic cell. The thought of homegrown terrorists is too scary to contemplate.

Not good, not good at all.

UPDATE

Former head of Scotland Yard, Sir John Stevens, says:

"But essentially, sadly, this will almost certainly [have] been a homegrown operation."

And

He said that 3,000 'British-born or British-based' people have passed through Al Qaeda training camps over the last decade.

Which is one reason why we liberated Afghanistan.

UPDATE

The Mirror (UK) reports "Police hunting the bombers think they are most likely to be young British Muslims, possibly from the North London, Hertfordshire, Luton, Bedford or Leicester areas."

And this is interesting:

Detectives think it most likely that the bombers joined the Underground in the North London area, possibly at Finsbury Park.

Finsbury Park is home to none other than the al Qaeda recruitment Mosque, The Finsbury Park Mosque.

Experts say suicide bombers need close handling, especially just before they kill themselves. Could the bombers have gotten their last orders at the Mosque?
