US - al Qaeda: trains and planes

al Qaeda blew up trains in Spain on 3/11, in London on 7/7 and it looks like they were behind yesterdays attacks in India.

It now appears al Qaeda was behind the plot uncovered by the FBI to blow up trains in New York. There's also more information coming out about this case, including the fact that the ring leader, Assem Hammoud, was arrested in Canada in 2001 for trespassing on Montreal's rail system. And note this from the report:

Also yesterday, documents surfaced showing that Hammoud abandoned an $800-a-month, two-bedroom apartment in Montral in March 1996 while he owed three months' back rent. The apartment is one block from where Ahmed Ressam, the "Millennium Bomber," lived.

With the tightening of airport security, it seems al Qaeda finds trains an easier target.

Are cruise liners next?
