Cuba - Castro "dire" or "serious"

This is interesting. I first read a report that Castro was in "dire" conditon here. It's date time stamped 2006-08-11 00:00. The 11th of Aug and says this:

"His statement was the most dire yet from a close Castro ally in describing the 79-year-old Cuban leader's condition."

I followed the link to the source which is date timed stamped Thursday, August 10, 2006 · Last updated 5:28 p.m. PT and says this:

"His statement was the most serious yet from a close Castro ally in describing the 79-year-old Cuban leader's condition."

CBS reports the same.

But the Guardian has Castro as "dire" and is date time stamped Thursday August 10, 2006 9:46 PM.

"His statement was the most dire yet from a close Castro ally in describing the 79-year-old Cuban leader's condition"

All of the reports are by NATALIE OBIKO PEARSON ASSOCIATED PRESS WRITER.

It would appear some went back and changed Castro's condition as originally reported by Pearson, from "dire" to "serious". Note that Pearson filed her report from Venezuela.

Not earth shattering, but with the world on a Castro death watch, it's interesting that some in the media want to downplay his condition. That's the dictator loving media for you.
