Lebanon - Photogate:more staged photos?

While it might seem the blogpshere is overreacting to photogate, it's important to remember that Reuters is charged with a serious breach of ethics. If it can be proved that there are a lot more staged Reuters photos, MSM might be forced to report it. In addition maybe Qanagate will be investigated.

Someone else noticed these two photos but I decided to take a closer look.

I'm not sure what it means but according to this page the two pictures in question are date time stamped one minute apart. Here's the first one.

Now this one is date time stamped one minute before the other but both have this as part of the caption: "...standing near a building that was attacked by Israeli air strikes in southern Beirut July 24, 2006. REUTERS/Adnan Hajj "

Notice the smoke and the building to the left of the photograph. Now look at the second one which is supposed to be from the same bombing on July 24th.

There's no smoke, blue sky and the building to the left is gone. At first I thought maybe the man is standing further back in the photo and the building on the left is behind the camerman. But the scale of the buildings in the background seem about the same. Besides that wouldn't explain the blue sky.

Then I thought maybe the man is standing in a square where there are similar buildings and this second shot is from the reverse angle. But look at the buildings to the right closely. They look like the same buildings in both pictures.

It looks like Hajj took these photos on different days. One photo was taken after more bombing and would explain the missing building on the left.

One last thing and I'm not sure of the significace of it, but if you right click on each photo and check the properties, one is a jpeg image and the other a bitmap image. I had to convert the bitmap one to jpeg so blogger would upload it. You can check the originals at the link above.

Powerline notes that Reuters has been caught in the past "staging photos" to fabricate a story from Lebanon.
