Pakistan - Is bin Laden dead?

I've stayed away from this rumor till now because we've heard it all before. But Gateway Pundit has a good roundup of rumors if you're interested.

This bit of medical information caught my eye.

Update 2: Boinky from Mugabe Makaipa adds this on typhoid:

"paralysis of the inner organs"...yup. Sounds like typhoid.

Salmonella causes diarrhea, but typhoid causes Ileus (slowdown of the intestines), and people don't poop at all...the intestines perforate on day 21. Typhoid is spread thru dirty water...and is easily treated with antibiotics (although it has become resistant to antibiotics in many areas). However, if you don't catch it early and give 21 days of chloramphenicol or antibiotics, the perforation is often fatal even in hospitals.

Sounds like he was really hiding somewhere primitive...I've treated a lot of cases in Africa.

We can only hope.

Now the conspiracy theories will begin - Rove is at it again.

Well, to be fair Bush did recently say that catching bin Laden wasn't a top priority anymore. Add to that the report of bin Laden's death came from a leaked French intelligence report. The left will say the announcement of bin Laden's death was to have been Rove's October surprise but the French blew it. Doesn't matter. Either way bin Laden would still be dead and that's a good thing.
