What I want is a complete list of every scumsucking f--kstick Democratic a--hole senator who voted for cloture. That's what I want.

I don't know what to DO with that list, not yet -- but I know for G--DAMNED sure I won't be VOTING for any of them, let alone sending them any g--damned MONEY.

And now that bin Laden is using the Democrats talking points in his propaganda speeches, just as the North did during Vietnam, people are starting to wake up to the danger the left pose to, not just America, but the security of the world.

Now, to hear MSM tell it you would think Bush is the only one with troubles.

Oh, and don't forget Hillary Clinton's trial should be starting in a few months.

Damn! 2006 is starting out to be one hell of a year.

US - Zawahiri, NSA and the Patriot Act

The irony of this is lost on the Washington Post.

M.J. Gohel, a terrorism analyst and chief executive of the Asia-Pacific Foundation in London, said it appeared that Zawahiri and bin Laden had coordinated their recent messages. He said it was noteworthy that al Qaeda's leaders had fashioned an effective system of communication that Western intelligence agencies have been unable to penetrate.

If memory serves me correctly, the New York Times leaked sensitive intelligence about how we collect terrorist communications which resulted in the terrorists changing tactics. And this terrorism expert thinks it's "noteworthy" we haven't penetrated al Qaeda's communications?

Well, if the lying left wing media would quit leaking secrets we might get somewhere. And if the Democrats would quit whinning about something they did when Clinton was in office, that would help as well.

We may not have got the two top guys yet and Zarqawi is still out there, but we have captured or killed hundreds below them and sooner or later we'll get them all.

Villagers attacked Taliban rebels who had blockaded a road and were confiscating music cassettes from passing cars in southern Afghanistan, officials said on Tuesday. Two militants and a villager were killed.

At least 16 St. Louis area Democrats have been found guilty of election crimes since the 2004 election!

As far as Mr. Ellis, he tried to have a federal witness silenced "permanently" during the investigation. He pleaded guilty for attempted murder of a federal witness in October of last year. He awaits sentencing.

This is in addition to all the other vote fraud committed by Democrats.

Denmark - Paper did not apologize for cartoons

The paper is sorry if Muslims were offended but not for publishing the cartoons. Good for them.

Maybe because of culturally based misunderstandings, the initiative to publish the 12 drawings has been interpreted as a campaign against Muslims in Denmark and the rest of the world.

I must categorically dismiss such an interpretation. Because of the very fact that we are strong proponents of the freedom of religion and because we respect the right of any human being to practise his or her religion, offending anybody on the grounds of their religious beliefs is unthinkable to us.

That this happened was, consequently, unintentional.

As a result of the debate that has been going on about the drawings, we have met with representatives of Danish Muslims, and these meetings were held in a positive and constructive spirit. We have also sought in other ways to initiate a fruitful dialogue with Danish Muslims.

It is the wish of Morgenavisen Jyllands-Posten that various ethnic groups should live in peace and harmony with each other and that the debates and disagreements which will always exist in a dynamic society should do so in an atmosphere of mutual respect.

In other words, accept our freedom of speech or leave.

The absolute cluelessness of this BBC report is stunning.

Here's the BBC headline "Bush prepares for low-key address".

This is the State of the Union address being given while the US is involved in Iraq and the broader war on terror, Bush has just filled two seats on the Supreme Court (defeating the Democrats once again)and all the scandals the Democrats keep trying create keep backfiring on them. This speech will be anything but "low key".

Iraq has held 3 successful elections, adopted their constitution and the entire country seems to be turning on Zarqawi. As a result the US has dropped its troop strength by 20% and will continue to wind down this year.

Add to that, the US economy is booming.

All of which means Bush can direct his attention to things like health care and education.

Don't worry the BBC gets even more clueless as the report goes on.

Mr Bush is enduring a prolonged slump in public support amid ongoing conflict in Iraq and political strife at home. [...]

With Mr Bush's approval ratings hovering around 41%, aides suggested that he would not announce any radical reform packages.

Someone wake the BBC up, Bush's approval rating is hovering around 50% and was actually at 50% just yesterday.

And now for the infamous "Correspondents say".

Correspondents say Mr Bush's domestic plans are shaped by a sullen response to a series of embarrassments during the past 12 months.

Well, the lying left wing media who hate Bush would say that wouldn't they.

Flash for the BBC, the majority of Americans (over 60%) support Bush on the NSA wiretaps (a media created non scandal), no one cares about the Plame affair (ditto), and the LA Governor and New Orleans mayor are largely responsible for the Katrina response disaster. But you wouldn't know that given the way the lying left wing media like the BBC reported it.

How clueless is the BBC? This clueless.

US "Election process under attack" by Democrats

So says this judge in sentencing Democrats in a vote fraud case.

EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (AP) -- A former Democratic election worker in this battered city was sentenced Monday to a year and a half in federal prison and a City Hall volunteer got probation for scheming to buy votes in the November 2004 election.

Noting that the case reflected an American election process "under attack" by fraud, U.S. District Judge G. Patrick Murphy ordered former precinct committee member Sheila Thomas' prison sentence to be followed by two years of supervised release.

But in Wisconsin, thanks to Democrats who stacked the process, convicted Democrats who slashed the tires on buses to be used to bus Republicans to vote, got no jail time.

And in Ohio, where the Democrats complained that there was wide spread voter fraud that cost them the election, a study paid for by the Democrats found that indeed there was wide spread vote fraud - by Democrats!

They can't win on ideas, because they don't have any, so they have to use fraud to get elected.

US - John Kerry loses again

Kerry is one of the best thingsto happen to Republicans.

Alito's supporters in the Senate, as expected, cleared the final roadblock Monday when senators, by a vote of 72-25, decided to cut off debate and proceed to a final vote, rebuffing an attempt by a cadre of liberal senators to talk the nomination to death.

The vote easily exceeded the 60 votes needed to pass the motion.

In the end, only 24 of the chamber's 44 Democrats went along with the filibuster, a maneuver allowed under Senate rules to block a vote by extending debate indefinitely. It was also supported by the chamber's lone independent, Sen. Jim Jeffords of Vermont.

Iraq - Sunnis step up campaign against Zarqawi

Things are looking pretty bad for Zarqawi.

There are still more consequences to the wave of assassinations targeting Sunni political and religious figures participating in the political process, and the killing of 42 police recruits in Ramadi by extremist Islamist followers of Abu-Musab al-Zarqawi, the leader of "al-Qaeda's Organization in the Land of the Two Rivers." A new escalation took the form of additional Arab Sunni tribal clans joining the campaign aimed at liquidating this organization.

The "Popular Clan Committees" launched a large campaign chasing Zarqawi's group in Ramadi "in order to expel them to Syria beyond Iraqi borders." Sheikh Osama al-Jedaan, the head of the al-Karabila clan in Qa'im, on the Syrian border, said that the "Clan Committees" have started a military campaign against the "terrorists," asserting that security formations composed of Ramadi inhabitants are searching for people wanted by the Iraqi government and by their own "government." He emphasized that this operation aims at expelling from Iraqi borders "foreigners and intruders" coming from other states of the region. Six armed groups belonging to "the Iraqi resistance" recently declared war on Zarqawi's "terrorist" organization.

Coupled with this and Zarqawi's days may be numbered.

BBC - Justin Webb praised Bush

Albeit mildly. Still, coming from the BBC this is a rarity.

Yet as the world prepares to confront Iran over its nuclear ambitions it seems to me that an unprejudiced view of where the president is coming from, of what he has in store, is more important than ever.

He says he loves us all and he says he loves freedom - believes in its power, its civilising influence.

Is he fooling us? Will he bin this boyish enthusiasm for free votes when the going gets tough?

I think not. This is a man capable of seizing new ideas. A man who knows what it is like to maintain a course in spite of temptations along the way.

I wonder how long it will take Webb to apologize for this report like he did over his kind remarks on the radio.

Iraq - #2 al Qaeda killed

The second most wanted al Qaeda terrorist has been killed.

In other developments, Iraqi security and coalition forces killed the second-most-wanted al Qaeda terrorist in Iraq, Abdallah Najim Abdallah Muhammad al-Juwari, otherwise known as Abu Azzam, the al Qaeda in Iraq "emir of Baghdad," during an early morning raid Sept. 25 in Baghdad.

Abu Azzam was the operational commander for fugitive Jordanian terrorist Abu Musab al-Zarqawi's al Qaeda in Iraq network, and he was responsible for the upsurge in violent attacks in the city since April, officials said.

Multiple intelligence sources and corroborating information from a close associate of Abu Azzam led coalition and Iraqi security forces to the terrorist safe house where he was hiding. The mission was designed to capture him, but Abu Azzam fired on the forces, and their return fire killed him, officials said.

Someone turned him in then?

And Iraqis continue to give our troops tips on the terrorists.

Elsewhere, Task Force Baghdad soldiers, acting on a tip from an Iraqi citizen, seized a weapons cache hidden in western Baghdad on Sept. 25.

Hopefully, soon, someone will give up Zarqawi and it might just be the terrorists as this seems to indicate.

Europe's CIA Inquiry Finds No Evidence of Secret Prisons

That doesn't stop the New York Times from spinning the story.

STRASBOURG, France, Jan. 24 - An inquiry by the Council of Europe into allegations that the C.I.A. has operated secret detention centers in Eastern Europe has turned up no evidence that such centers ever existed, though the leader of the inquiry, Dick Marty, said there are enough "indications" to justify continuing the investigation.

The report added, however, that it was "highly unlikely" that European governments were unaware of the American program of renditions, in which terrorism suspects were either seized in or transferred through Europe to third countries where they may have been tortured. Drawing from news reports, Mr. Marty contended that "more than a hundred" detainees have been moved anonymously and illegally through Europe under the program.

Mr. Marty's findings to date amount to little more than a compendium of press clippings. [I guess NYT didn't like his findings then. .ed]

"It would seem from confidential contacts that the information revealed by The Washington Post, Human Rights Watch and ABC came from different sources, probably all well-informed official sources," a passage in the report reads. "This is clearly a factor that adds to the credibility of the allegations, since the media concerned have not simply taken information from one another."

No, they never do that.

Now this part is funny.

Both Mr. Marty and the Council of Europe's secretary general, Terry Davies, are convinced that the American press knows more about the alleged detention centers, but are under government pressure to keep the information secret.

The lying left wing media protecting Bush? Now that's funny.

The BBC continues to cover up for Muslims. Nowhere in the entire article does the BBC mention that it is Muslims who are bombing these churches and killing innocent civilians.

German ad boss apologises to bloggers

Such is the power of blogs today.

The leader of a campaign to cheer up German citizens has been forced to apologise after dismissing weblogs as "the toilet walls of the internet".

Jean-Remy von Matt, the head of the leading German advertising agency Jung von Matt, fired off a furious internal email to colleagues after his "Du bist Deutschland" campaign was criticised by the media and in cyberspace by bloggers.

"What on earth gives every computer owner the right to exude his opinion, unasked for? ... and most bloggers really just exude," he wrote.

It's called freedom of speech.

But Mr von Matt was not entirely contrite. "Even if most of the criticism of my email was serious and constructive, I still see it as a breach of respect that an internal memo of mine could be sent scampering like a sow through Little Bloggerville," he complained.

For the head of a leading German ad agency, Mr. von Matt seems pretty clueless about the blogsphere and found out the hard way.

Denmark - Cartoons spark violent protests

CNN reports.

Masked gunmen on Monday briefly took over a European Union office to protest a Danish newspaper's publication of cartoons deemed insulting to Islam's Prophet Muhammad, the latest in a wave of violent denunciations of the caricatures across the Islamic world.

It's not just that Muslims find these particular cartoons insulting, the Koran forbids any depiction of Muhammad.

Good for Norway and Denmark for standing up to Muslims and for free speech.

Australia - Patriotism on the rise

Someone needs to tell The Sydney Morning Herald.

That reminds me of when the BBC lied and reported the exact opposite of what was happening in Iraq.

Paul Adams, the BBC's defence correspondent who is based at the coalition command centre in Qatar, complained that the corporation was conveying a untruthful picture of how the war was progressing. ["untruthful" = lying .ed]

Adams accused the BBC's coverage of exaggerating the military impact of casualties suffered by UK forces and downplaying their achievements on the battlefield during the first few days of the conflict.

"I was gobsmacked to hear, in a set of headlines today, that the coalition was suffering 'significant casualties'. This is simply not true," Adams said in the memo. [the BBC's own man accusing the BBC of lying. .ed]

"Nor is it true to say - as the same intro stated - that coalition forces are fighting 'guerrillas'. It may be guerrilla warfare, but they are not guerrillas," he stormed.

"Who dreamed up the line that the coalition are achieving 'small victories at a very high price?' The truth is exactly the opposite. The gains are huge and costs still relatively low. This is real warfare, however one-sided, and losses are to be expected," Adams continued.

Iraq vs Los Angeles

In 2005 there were 846 US military casualties in Iraq.

In 2005 there were 860 homicides in the Los Angeles area.

Neither is a statistic to be proud of but it puts the war in Iraq in perspective. The fact that there were more deaths on the streets of LA than in the supposedly most dangerous country in the world is telling. Remember, that's just LA, when you add in other major cities it's even more revealing.

And it looks like we are seeing the beginning of the end of Zarqawi and al Qaeda.

Iraq - Terrorist co-operating with US

Is this the beginning of the end for Zarqawi?

U.S. intelligence officials have had back-door channels to insurgent groups for many months. The Dec. 15 elections brought many Sunnis to the polls and widened the split between Abu Mussab al-Zarqawi's foreign jihadists and indigenous Sunni insurgents. This marks the first time either Americans or insurgents have admitted that "senior leaders" have met at the negotiating table for planning purposes. "Those who are coming to work with [the U.S.] or come to an understanding with [the U.S.], even if they worked with Al Qaeda in a tactical sense in the past—and I don't know that—they are willing to fight Al Qaeda now," says a Western diplomat in Baghdad who has close knowledge of the discussions. An assortment of some of Iraq's most prominent insurgent groups also recently formed a "council" whose purpose, in addition to publishing religious edicts and coordinating military actions, is to serve as a point of contact for the United States in the future. "The reason they want to unite is to have a public contact with the U.S. if they disagree," says the senior insurgent figure. "If negotiations between armed groups and Americans are not done, then no solutions will be found," says Issa al-Addai al-Mehamdi, a sheik from the prominent Duleimi tribe in Fallujah. "All I can say is that we support the idea of Americans talking with resistance groups."

Remember, Zarqawi is opposed to any such talks and calls for the death of those who do.

This comes on top of what I posted yesterday.

This was last September and the Muslims aren’t letting this issue go away. They’ve already lodged a somewhat florid protest at the UN, where they got the sympathy of a tranzi ear or two. But their aim is an abject apology from Denmark for breaking an Islamic taboo - or else. They grow more threatening and the courageous Anders Rasmussen calmly declines to change his mind, saying publishing cartoons is not against Danish law, which is the law that applies in Denmark.

Why are our cowardly leaders letting the steadfast Mr Rasmussen and the newspaper’s editors take the heat alone? Why has not one American Congressman raised the issue in Congress? No one would expect an unequivocal response from the British prime minister, but is there not one British MP brave enough to support Mr Rasmussen and the Danish people who are, after all, defending the liberty of all of us? Is there not one newspaper editor – even a tabloid – with the strength of conviction to support the Danes? Now Danish livelihoods are being threatened for failing to condemn this infraction against Islamic law, with boycotts of their products.

Is there not one damn’ politician in the entire Anglosphere who will take a stand with Mr Rasmussen? What about John Howard, then? The newly elected Harper? God help us, where is Jesse Jackson?

So far, the sole support has come from Norway – another Viking nation, let us note – one of whose papers printed the original article translated into Norwegian and ran the cartoons. Will not one elected member of an Anglosphere government stand shoulder to shoulder with Mr Rasmussen, who is single-handedly defending Western values and freedoms?

The Left - AWOL in the War of Ideas

This is one reason the left and their megaphone, the lying left wing media, are a danger to world security.

How else to explain a dispatch from the Associated Press referring to Osama bin Laden as "an exiled Saudi dissident"? Such spin may not be inaccurate but it's like calling Jeffery Dahmer an “eccentric gourmet.” It rather misses the point, don't you think?

Similarly, a recent report on National Public Radio discussed how dangerous Iraq is for journalists. The blame was placed on “the nature of this war” and “the security situation.” No criticism of Militant Islamist cut-throats and car bombers was voiced.

And, of course, Reuters, the British wire service, has decreed that “one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter.” In Reuters corporate eyes, even the attacks on the World Trade Center can not be called terrorism.

Iraq - Growing protests against al Qaeda

Reuters reports.

SAMARA, 26 January (IRIN) - More than 1,000 protesters hit the streets of Samara, some 125km north of the capital, Baghdad, this week to demonstrate against al-Qaida militants blamed for killing more than 100 local police recruits this month.

The demonstration on 24 January, organised by the Iraqi Islamic Party and the Muslim Scholars' Association, is the first of its kind to specifically condemn the al-Qaida group for alleged terrorist attacks.

"They have to stop killing innocent people like recruits, journalists and children," demanded protest organiser Kamal Ahmed. "If they don't stop, we'll fight them directly," Ahmed added angrily.

Even self-described insurgents, locked in bitter fighting with US and Iraqi military forces, joined in the condemnation.

"We work against the US occupation without hurting innocents," said Abu Omar of the insurgent Islamic Army. "If al-Qaida is against the ideology behind the insurgency, it's time to force them out of our country."

"We will kill the militants to show how far we will go to save the lives of innocent people," Abu Omar added.

Strong words for Zarqawi.

Murtha says there is a civil war in Iraq. He's right but it's the terrorists against each other.

More protests are planned.

Similar anti-al-Qaida demonstrations are planned in the cities of Ramadi and Baghdad in the coming days.

That $25 million must be starting to look good to someone.

US - Majority of US back Bush on wiretaps

A new CBS News/New York Times poll found 61 percent of Americans believe the eavesdropping is meant to fight terror and the majority support that [53 percent back Bush authorizing wiretaps].

Boy it must have killed CBS and NYT to learn that.

Schieffer: “You know John, it looks to me as if the President has decided to make this a political issue to show that he is strong in the fight against terrorism and perhaps the Democrats are weak. And I must say, looking at that poll, he may be succeeding.”

Roberts: “A political issue and a national security issue which history would show the President does very well on. You take a look at that poll, the majority of Americans think if it's directed at terrorism it's the right thing to do, Bob.”

Excuse me? I believe it was the New York Times that leaked the NSA wiretapping story that started all of this. It was the NYT and the Democrats who made a political issue out of our national security. And like everything else the left tries to do it backfires on them.

Remember when the Democrats kept moaning on how they couldn't get a vote on whether to keep our troops in Iraq? The President gave them not one, but two and the Democrats were utterly defeated.

CQ has more including how CBS/NYT slanted the poll towards the Democrats as they usually do and still it backfired on them. Bwahahahaha!

The last two pages contain the demographic information for the poll sample, and it reveals that the Democrats got overrepresented once again in the respondents:

Republicans: 29%
Democrats: 34%
Independents: 33%
Other: 4%

That reminds me of when the Democrats alleged that the Republicans committed widespread vote fraud in Ohio and thereby stole the election. So sure of it that the Democrats paid for an investigation into the matter. Here is what they found.

In a stinging reply to the report, Mr. Mehlman agreed that there were numerous election abuses that took place in Ohio last year, but said they were perpetrated by Democrats or their political allies. In one instance, he said, "Democrat allies attempted to disenfranchise Ohio voters by submitting registration cards for Mary Poppins, Dick Tracy and Michael Jordan."

In March, a group of Ohio election law attorneys conducted a review of the state's election for the House Committee on Administration. It found, among other things, that "thousands of false and fraudulent voter-registration cards had been discovered and became the subject of numerous investigations by boards of elections, actions by local law enforcement and many media reports."

"Overwhelmingly," this report said, "these problems were reportedly traced primarily" to four Democratic political allies who supported Mr. Kerry: ACORN, America Coming Together, the AFL-CIO and the NAACP National Voter Fund.

Thanks to bloggers, America is now seeing the Democrats and their megaphone, the lying left wing media, for the danger they are and the world is seeing the left for the danger they are.

Bangladesh - Security tight as Muslims gather

Tight security is in place in Bangladesh as more than a million Muslims gather for the biggest annual Islamic event after the hajj.

Around 22,000 troops have been seconded to guard the three-day World Muslim Congregation, Biswa Ijtema, at Tongi near the Bangladeshi capital, Dhaka.

In recent months Bangladesh has been hit by a wave of attacks linked to a banned Islamic group.

At least 28 people have died in the attacks.

This Sharia law must be a fearsome thing for the religion of peace and tolerance to attack itself.

UN - Annan condemns Iran's President

for being a Holocaust denier.

The world must challenge those who deny the Holocaust happened, says United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan.

In a statement released to mark Holocaust Memorial Day, Mr Annan describes those who question whether the Holocaust took place as "bigots".

Last week, Iran's president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad announced plans for a conference to examine the scale and consequences of the Holocaust.

He sparked widespread outrage last year when he called the Holocaust a "myth".

Well, if Ahmadinejad calls the Haolocaust a myth then he obviously isn't have a "conference to examine the scale and consequences of the Holocaust."

Wow! You know Kerry is finished when his megaphone, The New York Times, turns against him.

But late Thursday afternoon, Mr. Kerry began calling fellow Democratic senators in a quixotic, last-minute effort for a filibuster to stop the nomination.

Democrats cringed and Republicans jeered at the awkwardness of his gesture, which almost no one in the Senate expects to succeed.

"God bless John Kerry," said Don Stewart, a spokesman for Senator John Cornyn, a Texas Republican on the Judiciary Committee. "He just cinched this whole nomination. With Senator Kerry, it is Christmas every day."

And this time it's not in Cambodia with his CIA hat or flying dog.

It gets better!

Senator Harry Reid, the Democratic leader, sounded almost apologetic about Mr. Kerry's statements.

"No one can complain on this matter that there hasn't been sufficient time to talk about Judge Alito, pro and con," Mr. Reid said on the Senate floor. "I hope that this matter will be resolved without too much more talking."

Bwahahahah! Reid just told Kerry to shut up! Stick a fork in Kerry.

Wait, it gets evern better.

In the end the party leaders were not persuaded by Mr. Kerry's appeal.

Kerry has no appeal.

It's not just the Democratic leaders who are not persuaded, many Democratic Senators are fed up with Kerry as well.

With Senator Ben Nelson of Nebraska, Mr. Johnson and Mr. Byrd bring the number of Democrats pledging support for Judge Alito to three.

Make that four.

Hawaii Senator Daniel Akaka says he opposes blocking a vote on Samuel Alito's nomination to serve on the U-S Supreme Court.

Kerry and Kennedy once again make a fool of themselves and that's a good thing.

Canada - CBC apologizes for 'Harper-heil' graphic

The National Post reports.

The CBC has apologized to a viewer who complained that a news graphic appeared to juxtapose the name of the prime minister-designate with the German word "heil" -- a salute usually associated with Adolf Hitler. The graphic was flashed during Tuesday night's edition of The National. It appeared beneath a shot of a Stephen Harper election sign. In an e-mail to the viewer, the executive producer of The National explained the graphic was a freeze frame of typing intended to promote the show's "campaign confidential" segment. An editor chose to capture part of the word "their" for the graphic and with a cursor before the "r", it seemed to spell heil. "We sincerely apologize for that," the e-mail said.

Uncanny how these "media glitches" always happen to conservatives but never to liberals.

Iraq - Tips pouring in on terror suspects

This seems to be happening at an accelerated pace these days.

TIKRIT, Iraq -- Iraqi security forces and Task Force Band of Brothers Soldiers detained 51 suspected terrorists during a series of unrelated actions throughout northern Iraq Jan. 24.

In the largest action of the day, Iraqi troops from the 2nd Brigade, 5th Iraqi Army Division planned and conducted a large early morning raid in three villages outside of Baqubah. The unit detained 19 suspects, including eight known to have strong ties to terrorists in the area.

In the Bayji area, Soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division’s 3rd Brigade Combat Team continued to make progress against terrorists that have plagued the area. Ten known or suspected terrorists were captured in and around the city.

Tips from Bayji area residents generated a series of early-morning searches south of the city which led to the capture of four men closely tied to a terrorist ring responsible for committing murders and beheadings in the area. A fifth man was killed after firing a pistol at the Soldiers searching his home.

In another positive development, a local tribal leader brought three suspected members of an IED cell from the Bayji area to a coalition base and turned them in to coalition forces.

Soldiers from the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment also had a good day taking terrorists off the streets in Tall Afar and the nearby city of Bi’aj.

Working with Iraqi troops from the 2nd Brigade, 3rd Iraqi Army Division, the unit discovered two caches of weapons and stolen Iraqi Army uniforms and captured 12 suspects.

The troops began their mission working from one tip and with each turn of events, another tip surfaced that carried the Soldiers to two separate caches and 12 individuals.

The citizens of northern Iraq continue to build confidence in the security forces protecting the newly established democracy, as the Iraqi Soldiers grow into a mature, capable force, directly responsible for safeguarding the rights and lives of the people of Iraq.

US - Good news for the economy

Which is bad news for the Democrats.

For all of 2005, orders increased by 8.2 percent to an all-time high of $2.51 trillion. Orders for durable goods had risen by 10 percent in 2004 and 4.2 percent in 2003 after posting declines in 2002 and 2001, the year the country was in recession.

In other words, Bush turned Clinton's mess around.

In other economic news, the Labor Department reported that the number of Americans filing new claims for unemployment benefits rose to 283,000. That was up by 11,000 from the previous week. However, the four-week moving average for claims dropped to 288,750, the lowest level since July 2000.

Giving judgment, the Master of the Rolls, Sir Anthony Clarke, said it was not "in dispute that the Baghdad documents were of great interest to the public", and had they been published "without comment or further allegation Mr Galloway could have no complaint" since it was in the public interest for The Daily Telegraph to publish them, after giving Mr Galloway a fair opportunity to respond.

There was "no formal challenge" to their authenticity, and "they must be taken to be what they purport to be" although while The Daily Telegraph was willing to establish authenticity if required, Mr Galloway's stance was that he did not accept they were genuine, said the ruling.

And Galloway is under investigation by the Serious Fraud Office and the Charities Commission.

I don't understand why to rise to the level of being president of my country one has to be a monster. I used to say that George Bush was defiling the Oval Office, but it's been held by a long line of monsters. We don't have to support our administrations to love our country. True patriots of my country dissent when our country's doing something so wrong.

US - Clinton has no backing: shock poll

This will come as a shock to Hillary.

Most voters now say there's no way they'd vote for Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton if she runs for president in 2008 - while just 16 percent are firmly in her camp, a stunning new poll shows.

CNNGALLUP found that 51 percent say they definitely won't vote for Clinton (D-N.Y.) in 2008, another 32 percent might consider it, and only 16 percent vow to back her. That means committed anti-Hillary voters outnumber pro-Hillary voters by 3-1. The poll suggests she can forget about crossover votes - 90 percent of Republicans and 75 percent of conservatives say there's no way they'd back her.

Well that's what the BBC and the Democrats would have you believe.

The study commissioned by Democratic members of Congress listed former Defence Secretary William Perry and former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright among its authors.

That's all you really need to know right there.

I wonder how they explain the military exceeding their recruitment goals and why combat units in Iraq are exceeding their re-enlistment goals?

Not surprising, since the left wing media routinely fake stories as well.

Iraqis and Afghans most optimistic: BBC

That's right, the anti-war, anti-America and left wing propaganda machine, the BBC, is reporting good news from both countries. Man, that must have hurt to report this good news.

In Afghanistan, 70% say their own circumstances are improving, and 57% believe that the country overall is on the way up.

In Iraq, 65% believe their personal life is getting better, and 56% are upbeat about the country's economy.

Who knew people could be so happy in a quagmire?

US - LA Times: "I don't support our troops"

So says Joel Stein in the LA Times.

I DON'T SUPPORT our troops. . . . But when you volunteer for the U.S. military, you pretty much know you're not going to be fending off invasions from Mexico and Canada. So you're willingly signing up to be a fighting tool of American imperialism, for better or worse. Sometimes you get lucky and get to fight ethnic genocide in Kosovo, but other times it's Vietnam.

UK - Why does the BBC criticize the US so much?

Because it's easy. That's what the BBC's Washinton correspondent, Justin Webb, says. Be sure and read his statement on the masthead of this site.

RB. But you're saying there's a greater readiness to criticize America than there is to criticize China, or perhaps Saudi Arabia or other countries in the Middle East?

JW. And the reason is, I think, that it's easier, that we have a problem reporting open societies, particularly in a time of great international turmoil and war. It's just easier to criticize, it's easier to get information, it's easier to find people within the society who are immensely critical of it. Yet when you think of China, when you think of the Taliban...when you think of the situation in Iran it's just more difficult to get a handle on what's going on in those places. And I think there is a tendency, which we always have to guard against, of being tougher on democratic societies simply because it's easier.

If American society is so open and information so readily available, it should be just as easy not to be so critical or at least more honest than the BBC's usual reports on America.

Oddly, Webb recently spoke up for America and that got him in trouble. Funny that.

UK - Galloway facing 3 investigations

The Guardian reports on two of the investigations. Galloway is also being reinvestigated by the Charities Commission. He should be facing a fourth from the Inland Revenue for failing to delcare the income from the oil for food scandal.

The SFO [serious fraud office] is following up two official reports published before Christmas in Washington, which detailed banking evidence that Mr Galloway's wife and his political campaign organisation both received large sums from Saddam Hussein, laundered through under-the-counter oil allocations.

[Is there a "not so serious" fraud office? just asking. .ed]

And if the Telegraph wins its case today, Galloway could face an investigation from Parliament.

In turn, today's Telegraph appeal verdict could relaunch a parliamentary investigation into allegations that Mr Galloway broke House of Commons rules by failing to declare benefits he received from the Saddam regime. Mr Galloway persuaded Sir Philip Mawer, parliamentary commissioner for standards, to suspend his investigation because of the litigation.

Perhaps the Inland Revenue is waiting to see what the SFO has.

According to the US inquiries, [and the UN] big oil traders paid secret commissions in return for acquiring Iraqi shipments, which they frequently sold on to major US oil firms. The reports detail records of one alleged transaction in 2000 in which Taurus Petroleum gave $740,000 to Mr Galloway's agent, the businessman Fawwaz Zureikat.

Mr Zureikat distributed the cash in several directions. He kept some himself, and passed some over as a kickback to Saddam's regime.

He also gave $340,000 as a "donation" to Mr Galloway's pro-Iraq campaign, the Mariam Appeal, and another $150,000 to a bank account in Jordan belonging to Mr Galloway's wife. She in turn allegedly transferred $25,000 of that to her own account in London, though she denies the transaction.

What is it Galloway keeps saying? Oh, yeah, "show me the money". There you go George.

UK - Galloway's Pledge To Saddam's Son

Vows to stick with Uday "until the end".

Uday beat and stabbed to death his father's personal valet and food taster, Kemal Hana Gegeo, and was briefly imprisoned by Saddam.

He also raped numerous women, and his victims are believed to have included a visiting Russian ballerina.

And as head of the Iraqi Olympic Committee, he oversaw the imprisonment and torture of Iraqi athletes who were deemed not to have performed to expectations.

That sounds like the kind of people George would support.

Remember this. The judge ruled in that case that the newspaper did not give Galloway time to respond and they touted the story rather than just commenting on the evidence. The judge ruled the evidence was not in question, just the way it was handled.

US - Kerry doesn't disagree with Bush on spying

A fine display of flip flopping from the master.

As the discussion moved in the direction of NSA wiretaps, Stephanopoulos played a clip of Karl Rove saying: “President Bush believes if al Qaeda is calling somebody in America, it is in our national security interest to know who they're calling and why. Some important Democrats -- some important Democrats clearly disagree.” Stephanopoulos said: “He must have had you in mind. You've called the program a clear violation of the law.” To which Kerry replied: ‘We don't disagree with him at all. It is a violation of law and we don't disagree with him at all and this is exactly what Karl Rove does.”

Stephanopoulos then asked: “How can you think it's a violation and not disagree?” In the middle of a long answer, Kerry said: “We're prepared to eavesdrop wherever and whenever necessary in order to make America safer, but we put a procedure in place to protect the constitutional rights of Americans and what I believe, George, and I believe it deeply, is you can protect the United States of America without devoiding, without ignoring the constitution of the country.”

As this exchange ensued, Stephanopoulos said: “So you're open to changing the law.” To which Kerry replied: “Of course, if you need to protect, but show us how you can't do what you need to do today. They're never done that. There's nothing in the FISA law that we passed that suggests the president has this power.”

Then came the contradiction. Stephanopoulus asked: “So if you think this is a clear violation of the law why not move to cut off funding for the program?” And the senator responded, “That's premature.”

Excuse me? This program is "illegal," is a "violation of the law," was supposedly never approved by Congress, but it would be “premature” to stop funding it?

It makes perfect sense to flipper.

And flipper has trained Gore well.

Why is Koffi Annan still in charge and why do we keep paying these guys?

The focus of the current scandal is U.N. peacekeeping, a function that consumes 85 percent of the U.N.'s procurement budget — a cost that could reach $2 billion in 2005. Like many of the U.N.'s financial dealings, it is shrouded in secrecy. And like the multi-billion-dollar Oil-for-Food scandal, it is wrapped in what the U.N.'s own investigators now call "systematic abuse," "a pattern of corrupt practices," and "a culture of impunity."

In all, U.N. investigators have charged that nearly one-third of the $1 billion in major U.N. procurement contracts that they examined involved waste, corruption or other irregularities — $298 million in all. And that total covered slightly less than one-third of the $3.2 billion in major supply contracts that the U.N. has signed in the past five years.

Annan is presiding over one of the most corrupt institutions in the world and he should resign.

UK - Muslims to boycott Holocaust memorial

For the second year in a row.

Muslim leaders have been urged by the organisers of Holocaust Memorial Day to drop their controversial boycott of the event.

The call came from Fahmia Huda, the first Muslim to join the board of the Holocaust Memorial Trust, which will stage the annual event in Cardiff this week.

Sir Iqbal Sacranie, the secretary-general of the Muslim Council of Britain, sparked a row last year when he turned down an invitation to a ceremony, led by the Queen, to mark the 60th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz.

He will stay away from this year's event on Thursday.

In her letter to Mr Saeed, the festival's director, Isabel Carlisle, said: "We have sought to go beyond sectarian, ethnic or other group divisions so we do not enquire into the sexual orientation, gender or ethnicity of the artists ... equally, at this difficult time for Muslims living in this country we are not prepared to present works that will give offence to significant numbers."

Ms Carlisle told the Guardian: "The festival is "non-ideological and non-political and non-sectarian ... we don't want to be subverted by any other agenda and that is principally why we turned Mr Saeed down."

Muhammad Yusuf, a member of the Interfaith Alliance, said it was a "matter of regret" that a festival aiming to reflect the diversity of Muslim culture was not prepared to take on board a facet that was different by reason of sexual orientation.

"this difficult time for Muslims living in this country"?!? It's Muslims terrorists who are attacking us!!

And heaven knows we shouldn't offend Muslims. But is perfectly ok for them to offend us.
