California is celebrating Earth Day by doling out $35.2 million in federal stimulus funds to encourage consumers to replace their most energy-intensive household appliances with more environmentally friendly hardware. Local utilities and retailers are sweetening the pot by adding rebates and incentives of their own, resulting in hundreds of dollars in savings on some products.
