South Korean beheading galvanizes the Koreans

From The Asian Times

If the terrorists who beheaded Kim Son-il thought that would force Korea, like Spain, to rethink its' deployment of troops to Iraq they are in for a surpirse. For, unlike Spain, the barbaric killing of one of South Korea's citizens has galvanized the nation behind the troop deployment.

The graphic dispatch of Kim Sun-il has caused a sea-change, however, and the same group that staunchly opposed the dispatch hours earlier are now demanding a military response. The home pages of the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade went down this morning, overwhelmed by the postings of outraged citizens.[...]

The execution has galvanized the people, pushing many into the deployment camp. Preliminary surveys indicate a 20+% jump in the number of respondents who now support the government's plans...

Seems Spain could use a lesson in backbone from the South Koreans.

Meanwhile the Beeb Korea correspondent on the website in an article about Mr Kim claims that internet chat rooms (!) show that more people do not want Korean Troops sent to Iraq! Why do a scientific survey if you can quote such fine sources. Even Gilligan did better than that!
