Islam - Mainstream Islam Finally Speaks Out

James Dunnigan, writing in Strategy Page, feels that mainstream Muslims are finally speaking out against Muslim terrorists. I couldn't disagree more and said so in the comments. Here is what I said.

Sorry, but I couldn't disagree more. In fact this kind of talk is dangerous.

Iqbal Sacarnie, the Secretary General of the Muslim Council of Britain, has stated publicly that there is no such thing as a Muslim terrorist and he wants to make it a crime in the UK for saying so. Sacarnie also led a boycott of the Holocaust rememberance here in the UK.

And if you read Muslim condemnation of terrorists or the fatwa recently issued in the US, you will find they are so vague as to be meaningless. This is especially true in regards as to what Muslims consider "innocent" people. Short answer, if you're not a Muslim you're not innocent.

While it may be encourging to hear such words of condemnation of Muslim terrorists by Muslims, listen carefully, it's all lip service.

Have you noticed that the "Million Muslim" march to protest Muslim terrorists, planned in Lodi, has been cancelled? Likewise, the one here in the UK planned in the aftermath of the London bombings was also cancelled. A similar march planned in D.C. recently attracted less than 50 people.

I notice that the so called voice of moderate Muslims in the US, CAIR, is missing from your post. Is that because of CAIR's demonstrated links to terrorists?

While I want to believe that Muslims are starting to take a stand against Muslim terrorists, there is too much evidence to the contrary. Sure Muslims are upset that the terrorists are killing Muslims, they weren't so upset when it was just us infidels being murdered, were they? They are only upset at the terrorists tactics being used at the moment. Watch the hue and cry die down should Muslim terrorist become more careful in their targeting and only us infidels die.

I respect your opinions but I think we should be very careful in thinking Muslims will turn against the terrorist because they are Muslim terrorists. That won't happen until Islam is reformed and the chances of that are almost nil.

There is too much at stake, our very existence for example, for us to become hopeful that Muslims will eradicate radical elements from Islam. CAIR and the MCB are proof of that.
