Iran - US Caused Tehran Plane Crash

An Iranian military plane with 94 people on board has crashed into a 10-storey apartment building in a built-up suburb of the capital Tehran.

According to the BBC it's America's fault.

I kid you not.

Officials blame the high frequency of crashes on a lack of aviation spare parts due to US sanctions.

Would those be Iranian or BBC officials?

And yet Iran has no problem buying missles from Russia.

So, tell me again, why did the US begin sanctions against Iran in 1984?

The US measures were designed to achieve two complementary objectives: to impair the military potential of Iran, particularly regarding the development of chemical, biological, and nuclear weapons, and to reduce resources available to the Iranian government to fund terrorist activities.

Iran's decision to fly planes without spare parts is their decision - a dumb one - but their decision.

al Reuters, and seemingly the Iranians, no friend of America, see it differently.

Iran has a poor airline safety record following a string of air disasters in the past 30 years although most have involved Russian-made aircraft.

U.S. sanctions have prevented Iran from buying new aircraft or spares from the West, forcing it to supplement its fleet of Boeing and Airbus planes with aircraft from former Soviet Union countries.

Hmmm. Since most of the Russian aircraft seemed to crash do the Iranians feel US planes are safer?

And if the Iranians were able to buy Soviet planes, and presumedly spare parts for them, why did the Soviet planes keep crashing?

Is it more likely that the Iranians don't have good pilots?
