Britain - Bomb Scare at the BBC?

This story doesn't make sense.

BBC radio stations taken off air

BBC Radios 2, 3 and 4 went off air briefly on Monday afternoon after suffering "major technical problems".

The break in transmission was caused by a staff evacuation at BBC Broadcasting House in London which led to the networks being taken off the air.

Broadcaster Eddie Mair returned to deliver the PM news programme on Radio 4 just after 1715 GMT.

He thanked listeners for the flurry of concerned e-mails. "Someone tripped over a plug somewhere," he joked.

First note the headline: "BBC radio stations taken off air".

Does that mean the BBC deliberately took them off the air for some reason?

Next they say they suffered "major technical problems".

But the next sentence says the "break in transmission was caused by a staff evacuation".

Well which was it, a major technical problem or a staff evacuation?

And why were the staff evacuated? Was there a bomb scare?

As much as I loathe the BBC I don't want to see anyone hurt.

I still like the headline though: "BBC radio stations taken off air". If only.
