UK - BBC: "No reason for optimism in Iraq"

So says the BBC's resident gas bag, John Simpson.

Remember the following as you read this drivel from Simpson.

Simpson and the BBC have been caught lying about Iraqi war casualties before. Also see here and here. Simpson is about to lie to you again.

Paul Adams, the BBC's defence correspondent, complainted the BBC was lying about Iraqi war casualties.

"I was gobsmacked to hear, in a set of headlines today, that the coalition was suffering 'significant casualties'. This is simply not true," Adams said in the memo.

On top of that John Simpson calls al Qaeda the "resistance" and he called the 7/7 Muslim terrorists "misguided criminals".

Now that you know the BBC, especially John Simpson, are lying to you in their reporting of Iraqi casualty figures and that Simpson's loyalties lie with the terrorists, you can read his article while holding your nose.

So, here we go with Simpson lying right away.

The Washington Post reported that 1,300 bodies had been taken there since the upsurge in sectarian violence which followed the bombing of the Shia shrine at Samarra on 22 February.

One left wing rag quoting another left wing rag. Simpson is either too lazy, ignorant or hopes you are not as informed as you ought to be. US and Iraqi officials along with most other media outlets immediately denounced the Washington Post figures.

In comparison, The New York Times reported Monday that the recent violence "brought the country to the brink of civil war and left at least 200 dead." Others had produced similar figures.

On Tuesday, the Times increased that number to "379 dead and 458 wounded, the nation's Council of Ministers said today. At least 246 people in Baghdad alone were killed, the top two city morgue officials said."

It's unclear why these numbers remain so much below those cited by The Washington Post. [Actually it's very clear coming from WaPo]

The Associated Press carried this on Tuesday: "The Post cited figures from the Baghdad central morgue, but an official there told The Associated Press that as of Sunday night they had received only 249 bodies tied to the violence. The Post figure appeared high based on police and hospital reports from the major population centers at the time of the attacks."

I'm not even going to bother fisking the rest of his drivel.
