UK - Resourcing blamed on 7/7 terror attacks

Silly me, here I was thinking it was Muslim terrorists to blame.

Well, it looks like the BBC at least found the "T" word. Sadly they still haven't found the "M" word.

A lack of resources prevented security services from intercepting the 7 July London bombers, a report has claimed.

Two of the bombers were known to security officers, but the threat they posed was not realised.

You would think the BBC could at least call them terrorists here. Muslim terrorists would more accurate, but terrorists at least.

This is interesting.

Mr Reid detailed the events of 7 July saying the whole operation cost the bombers less than £8,000.

So much for Muslim terrorists being poor and down trodden.

And what was their motivation?

He said the bombers' motivation was "fierce antagonism to perceived injustices by the West against Muslims" and a desire for martyrdom.

Now where do you suppose they got those ideas? One year on and Tony Blair has yet to deport one single Imam of hate. Hamza lays convicted in prison but still puts out his call to martyrdom on his website.

Then there's the al Qaeda connection.

The pair had been observed in Pakistan, where it was "likely that they had some contact with al-Qaeda figures", according to the committee.

And there's this stunning revelation.

But the Intelligence and Security Committee conceded there were "more pressing priorities" at the time, including the need to disrupt known plans to attack the UK.

Note the plural "plans". Who's involved in those plots and what's the status of the "plans"?

More questions.

"He was actually very clever at covering his tracks. He posed as Sid the school assistant and nobody actually knew around him that he was planning mass murder," said our correspondent.

Who taught him that?

More revelations.

Despite lacking the funding to tackle Khan and Tanweer, the report revealed how three terrorist plots had been thwarted since 7 July.

Which would indicate that the 1,000 al Qaeda supporters in the UK haven't given up.

Now, remember how this article started out?

A lack of resources prevented security services from intercepting the 7 July London bombers, a report has claimed.

This is how the article ends.

The Treasury added that the security services had received all the resources they had asked for in the 2004 Spending Review.

So, was it a lack of funding or a lack of appreciation for the threat? I'd say the latter and I'm not sure they still do. Otherwise, the Imam's of hate would be gone.
