Iraq - Good news round up

AFP of all outlets, reports on progress in Ameriyah.

But note the URL used for the link: mideast_afp/iraqunrestusbaghdad

Likewise, The Scotsman reports on the hand over to Iraqis of another province. In doing so, the Scotsman uses an old management techinque called a "sandwich". The idea is that you want to correct an employees faulty behaviour subtly. The way to accomplish this is to "sandwich" your criticism inbetween to points of praise. That way the employee gets the message he needs to improve but the reinforced messages is that on the whole he's doing ok.

The Scotsman is using the "sandwich" in this case to put the good news in the middle between two bits of bad news. Thereby, the Scotsman reinforces the false idea that things on the whole are not doing ok.

Subtle but effective.
