Iran mulled nuclear bomb in 1988

Seems Frances Harrison, the BBC's Tehran reporter is trying to get her bona fides back. Harrison, a Muslim married to an Iranian, recently blamed an Iranian airplane crash on US santions. This despite the fact that the plane was Russian and the cause of the crash was a burst tyre upon landing.

A letter from 1988 in which Iran's top commander says Iran could need a nuclear bomb to win the war against Iraq has come to light in Tehran. [...]

The letter seems at odds with Tehran's statements that Iran is not seeking a bomb because it is against Islam.
