UK - People willing to pay more TV tax

That's right. Or so says the BBC. Well, they would say that wouldn't they?

Before we get into the matter, honestly, have you ever met anyone who was willing to pay more tax on anything? Have you ever met anyone who wanted to pay for something they can get for free - and in this case - a better product to boot?

People are willing to pay an extra £31 a year for the BBC licence fee, according to a report commissioned by the government.

Since this is a BBC report, you can bet the truth is the exact opposite. The London Times isn't buying it either.

CURIOUS research from The Work Foundation on people’s willingness to pay for the BBC licence fee. The spin was that the report concluded that people were willing to pay £162.66 a year, instead of the current £131.50.

Read again, and there are other conclusions. A fifth, 22 per cent, want the licence fee cut in return for fewer services. Another half, 53 per cent, want the fee to remain at its current level; and only 26 per cent want an increase. Elsewhere 75 per cent of the 7,000 surveyed wanted the licence fee held, with a voluntary subscription for extra services in the future. That’s no blank cheque.

And just who is it the BBC says are willing to pay more?

Those willing to pay most to fund the BBC - between £15 and £31 a month as opposed to the £11 it currently costs - were more likely to be well-educated and earn over £50,000 a year.

Let the BBC compete on an equal footing the in the commerical market and watch how fast this left wing propaganda machine collapses.
