The Clintonistas are up in arms over the exposure of the Democrats failure to take terrorism seriously. One Democrat was so upset she made this call:
And Rep. Louise Slaughter, D-N.Y., called on ABC to show disclaimers throughout each episode, not just at the beginning. "ABC has a responsibility to make clear that this film is not a documentary, and does not represent an official account of the facts surrounding the Sept. 11 attacks," she said.
I don't recall Democrats making the same calls for Moore's fabricated movie over Iraq.
The upshot of all this wailing and assult on free speech by the Democrats? Millions more will now take a closer look at just exactly what the Democrats didn't do to stop terrorism. As for ABC, the publicity will ensure the success of the show, with millions more watching than probably would have. Which means even more people will learn of the Clinton's failures.
How worried are the Clintonistas that you will learn the truth? They're so worried they plan to hijack Google to prevent you finding out the truth.
ABC has done us a huge favor. They're exposing the Clinton's abysmal record on combating terrorism, they're exposing the Democrats assault on free speech and they're exposing the left's attempts to prevent you from finding out the truth. Not bad for a small docudrama.
So, what's the right doing to remember and honour the memory of the 2,996 innocent men, women and children of America, who were murdered by Muslim terrorists on 9/11? They've organized 2,996 bloggers to remember each and every one of them.
The contrast couldn't be any starker.
Next, consider President Bush's speech yesterday on Muslim terrorists held by the CIA.
Notice how each capture led to another high level al Qaeda leader which in turn, revealed more terror plots that were foiled and resulted in the capture of those directly responsible for 9/11. Now, for the Democrats to argue against the President's actions, they will have to admit that none of this would have been possible. As Michelle notes, this sums it up well.
The President just pulled one of the best maneuvers of his entire presidency. By transferring most major Al Qaeda terrorists to Guantanamo, and simultaneously sending Congress a bill to rescue the Military Commissions from the Supreme Court's ruling Hamdan v. Rumsfeld, the President spectacularly ambushed the Democrats on terrain they fondly thought their own. Now Democrats who oppose (and who have vociferously opposed) the Military Commissions will in effect be opposing the prosecution of the terrorists who planned and launched the attacks of September 11 for war crimes.
And if that were not enough, the President also frontally attacked the Hamdan ruling's potentially chilling effect on CIA extraordinary interrogation techniques, by arguing that Common Article 3 of the Geneva Conventions is too vague, and asking Congress to define clearly the criminal law limiting the scope of permissible interrogation.
Taken as a whole, the President's maneuver today turned the political tables completely around. He stole the terms of debate from the Democrats, and rewrote them, all in a single speech. It will be delightful to watch in coming days and hours as bewildered Democrats try to understand what just hit them, and then sort through the rubble of their anti-Bush national security strategy to see what, if anything, remains.
Yes it will and what's more, as the Democrats stammer and stutter, people will be asking them "ok, what would you do?". I can tell you what their answer will be "we have a plan".
UPDATE
It's not just the nutroots trying to stop you from finding out the truth, the national leadership of the Democrats (I know it's an oxymoron), is trying to block the truth as well.
Makes you wonder what they're all afraid of.
UDATE
Here's a long list of the left trying to silence free speech. You know why the left hate free speech so much? They don't want you to hear the truth.
UPDATE
Even the left wing media admit Bush put the Democrats in a bind.
UPDATE
The Washington Post weighs in.
By challenging Congress to immediately give the administration authority to try notorious al-Qaeda figures such as Khalid Sheik Mohammed by military commissions, he shifted the argument with Democratic critics of national security policies and competence. As Bush framed the choice, anyone against his proposal would be denying him necessary tools to protect American security.
UPDATE
This is spot on.
