Scotland - Dundee Muslims urged not to help police unit

The Dundee Courier reports.

DUNDEE’S MUSLIM community was last night urged not to co-operate with Tayside Police’s Special Branch community contact unit.

Osama Saeed of the Muslim Association of Britain told a packed meeting at Dundee University last night that members of the Muslim community should not interact with officers from the SBCCU.

Dundee has gained a reputation as a fertile breeding ground for Islamic fundamentalists. Last year it emerged that Norien Sajeel, a Scottish primary school teacher in her twenties, born and raised in the city, was also leader of Pakistan’s Sister Division, the women’s branch of Al-Muhajiroun.

In the wake of the Bali bombing, which left more than 180 dead, one of the eight suspects was Shamsul Bahri Hussein, a graduate of Dundee University. Hussein confessed to his involvement.

I live in a small town not far from Dundee and in the last few months we're starting to see a large influx of Muslims. Till just a few months ago almost no one had seen a Muslim woman in the town wearing a veil. In addition, we're starting to see young Muslim men in the streets. Usually in twos or fours, they wander about seemingly unemployed and, for now, there's been no trouble.

Like many towns, ours suffers from high unemployment with too many chasing too few jobs which could lead to unrest. Just look at France. We're a long way from France but we're headed that way. Efforts by the Muslim Association of Britain to divide communites and urge Muslims not to integrate, will only hasten the inevitable.
