When the Muslim World League lobbied the UN over a drawing of Mohamed with a burning fuse in his turban while simultaneously demanding respect for the Muslim religion, it appears it was ignoring its own hypocrisy.

US - CIA Leak investigation "leaked"

Someone needs to go to jail for these leaks.

The director of the CIA has launched a major internal probe into media leaks about covert operations. In an agencywide e-mail, Porter Goss blamed "a very small number of people" for leaks about secret CIA operations that, in his words, "do damage to the credibility of the agency."

According to people familiar with the Goss e-mail, sent in late January and classified secret, the CIA director warned that any CIA officer deemed suspect by the agency's Office of Security and its Counter Intelligence Center (which handles internal affairs) could be subjected to an unscheduled lie detector test.

No one can hide behind the whistle blower law on this. They need to find these people and put them in jail.

BAGHDAD, Iraq – Multi-National Division – Baghdad Soldiers discovered a weapons cache Feb. 3, adding to a series of caches discovered in the past week.

While conducting a combat patrol, the Soldiers with 1st Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, received a tip from an Iraqi citizen about the location of a possible weapons cache site.

Responding to the tip, the unit searched the area and uncovered multiple weapons, munitions and explosives. An Explosive Ordnance Disposal team arrived at the site to assess the situation and conduct a controlled detonation to destroy the cache.
The controlled detonation exposed a false floor beneath the original site, which yielded more weapons and munitions upon further investigation.

EOD conducted a second controlled detonation of the explosives.

After both detonations and a complete search of the area, the unit uncovered 21 120mm mortar rounds, two 160mm mortar rounds, six 155mm mortar rounds, one shape charge, six 122 mortar rounds, 20 rocket propelled grenades, one mortar base plate, 80 81mm mortar rounds, 50 2.5 rockets, 60 61mm mortar rounds and other bomb-making materials.

EU warns Iran against boycott of Danish goods

Is the EU getting a spine?

The EU’s executive office today warned Iran that attempts to boycott Danish goods or cancel trade contracts with European countries would lead to a further rupture in already cool relations.

The EU was trying to confirm comments made by Iran’s president that the country should boycott Danish products in protest of cartoons depicting the Prophet Mohammed, said EU spokesman Johannes Laitenberger.

“A boycott of Danish goods is by definition a boycott of European goods,” Laitenberger said.

“A boycott hurts the economic interests of all parties, also those who are boycotting and can damage the growing trade links between the EU and the countries concerned.”

Moscow museum to exhibit Mohammed cartoons

This ought to piss off Iran. Think Iran will cut trade ties with Russia like it did with Denmark? If not, the Iranians will have some explaining to do.

And how does this fit in with Russia's calls for not attacking Iran while they try and bargain over the nuclear stand off?

MOSCOW, Feb. 7 (UPI) -- A Moscow museum has announced it will exhibit the entire series of cartoons of Mohammed that have caused riots throughout the Islamic world.

Yury Samodurov, director of the Sakharov Museum and Public Center, said on Russian television that the center was ready to organize a public exhibition of the cartoons satirizing the founder of Islam that originally were published in a Danish newspaper, Pravda.ru reported Monday.

"We must show the whole world that Russia goes along with Europe, that the freedom of expression is much more important for us than the dogmas of religious fanatics," Samodurov said.

The exhibition reportedly will open in March. Lawyer Yury Shmidt has said he will invite French philosopher Andre Glucksmann and French novelist Michel Houellebecq to the opening ceremony to read lectures about the threat of Islamic fundamentalism.

Denmark - Muhammad cartoons: how it all started

And what's its all about.

At least the Washington Posts prints this much.

It's worth remembering that the controversy started out as a well-meaning attempt to write a children's book about the life of the prophet Muhammad. The book was designed to promote religious tolerance. But the author encountered the consequences of religious hatred when he looked for an illustrator. He could not find one. Denmark's artists seemed to fear for their lives. In turning down the job they mentioned the fate of Dutch filmmaker Theo van Gogh, murdered by an Islamic fundamentalist for harshly criticizing fundamentalism.

When this episode percolated to the Danish daily Jyllands-Posten, the paper's cultural editor commissioned the caricatures. He wanted to see whether cartoonists would self-censor their work for fear of violence from Muslim radicals. Still, the European media ignored this story in a small Scandinavian country. It took months, a boycott of Danish products in the Arab world and the intervention of such champions of religious freedom as the governments of Syria, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Libya (all of which withdrew their ambassadors from Copenhagen) for some European papers to reconsider their stance on the cartoons. By last week it was not an obscure topic anymore but front-page news. And it wasn't about religious sensibilities as much as about free speech. That's when the cartoons started to show up in papers all over Europe.

And shame on Britain and America for censoring the cartoons.

The former president [Bill Clinton] has turned the argument upside down. In this jihad over humor, tolerance is disdained by people who demand it of others. The authoritarian governments that claim to speak on behalf of Europe's supposedly oppressed Muslim minorities practice systematic repression against their own religious minorities. They have radicalized what was at first a difficult question. Now they are asking not for respect but for submission. They want non-Muslims in Europe to live by Muslim rules. Does Bill Clinton want to counsel tolerance toward intolerance?

On Friday the State Department found it appropriate to intervene. It blasted the publication of the cartoons as unacceptable incitement to religious hatred. It is a peculiar moment when the government of the United States, which likes to see itself as the home of free speech, suggests to European journalists what not to print.

Yes it is and MSM should be ashamed of themselves.

As for Clinton, that's just what you'd expect from the left.

UK - Hamza guilty of inciting murder

Great news from the BBC.

Controversial Muslim cleric Abu Hamza al-Masri has been found guilty by an Old Bailey jury of race hate charges and using his sermons to incite murder.

Abu Hamza, who preached at Finsbury Park mosque, London, was found guilty of 11 of the 15 charges he faced.

Now, let's hope the judge has the balls to send him to prison for the rest of his life.

The police will now have a hard time not charging those Muslims who did the very same thing this past weekend.

BBC - 9/11 and Muhammad cartoons equal

Here's the BBC's John Simpson's take on the Muhammad cartoons.

Notice how Simpson rushes you past the obvious.

Much the same arguments were used then as now, about where freedom of speech ends and gratuitous insults begin.

Militant secularists clashed on air and in print with militant Islamists, each talking past each other.

At one point, Rushdie recanted and asked for forgiveness. At least one of the book's translators seems to have been murdered.

The difference between our reaction to Muslim criticism of other religions and our criticism of Islam is that we don't go out and kill people or call for the killing and mass murder of others.

Here is a hint of Simpson's true feelings.

Why should it not also be illegal to insult the Prophet?

Got that? "The Prophet". Not Muslim prophet and with a capital P no less. I've heard rumors that Simpson converted to Islam but have no proof.

Now get this moral equivalence from Simpson:

And when extremists march through the streets, applaud bloodthirsty crimes like the attacks of 11 September and 7 July, that is no less insulting than publishing unfunny and deliberately goading cartoons.

Appluding the mass murder of over 3000 innocent civlilans in a Muslim terrorist attack that was aimed at not just the twin towers, but the Pentagon and the White House and the Muslim terrorist attack that murdered over 50 innocent Britons, is equal to some cartoons, according to Simpson.

The Muslim terror attacks on London were not the first, Muslim terrorists tried to fly a plane into Parliament on 9/11. The media would like to you to forget that little fact.

It was posted at 5:56 and must have slipped by the censors at the BBC. Watch for it to be stealth edited and the "M" word removed.

Clinton dirty trickster faces new charges

They may get Hillary yet.

During two terms of the Clinton administration, Pellicano was one of several private investigators used by the White House to conduct "shadow" operations. Others included Terry Lenzner, founder and chairman of the powerful Washington detective firm Investigative Group International, and San Francisco private eye Jack Palladino and his wife Sandra Sutherland.

But it was Hillary Clinton who hired the "Shadow Team" – some believe to do work that employees of the federal government could not do.

Former congressional investigator Barbara Olson, who was killed Sept. 11, 2001, wrote that, "In the political life of the Clintons, it was she [Hillary] who pioneered the use of private detectives. It was she who brought in and cultivated the professional dirt-diggers and smear artists."

Hillary's detectives engaged in "a systematic campaign to intimidate, frighten, threaten, discredit and punish innocent Americans whose only misdeed is their desire to tell the truth in public," former Clinton adviser Dick Morris charged in the New York Post of Oct. 1, 1998.

In his book, "Hillary's Secret War," author Richard Poe explains that Pellicano's violent career as a private investigator reveals much about the sorts of qualifications Hillary sought in her "Shadow Team."

In the January 1992 issue of GQ magazine, Pellicano boasted of the dirty work he had performed for his clients, including blackmail and physical assault. He claimed to have beaten one of his client's enemies with a baseball bat.

This is why the Clinton's are so afraid of the Barrett report.

And we're treating them differently, aren't we?"

Richardson gave the ultimate Dem response: "Diplomacy really is our only option."

Iraq turns against Zarqawi

This is something I've been reporting on for some time now.

"There is a change," says Mithal Alusi, a secular Sunni Arab parliamentarian. "After these attacks, and after the elections, we find the people are eager to be rid of the terrorists."

Analysts say the participation of Sunni Arabs in the December elections, and the tripling of that sect's seats in parliament, has convinced local leaders like Jadaan that political participation can bear fruit, such as infrastructure, jobs, and an end to US military operations in their cities.

The've also just the number four man in al Qaeda in Iraq and there are reports that Zarqawi has fled to Iran.

Iraqi police have arrested the fourth-ranking figure in al-Qaeda in Iraq, while officials are investigating whether the group's leader, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, has fled to neighbouring Iran.

The brief report on Iraqiya television identified the suspect as Mohammed Rabei, also known Abu Dhar, and said he was No 4 in al-Qaeda. It gave no further details.

Meanwhile, a senior Iraqi security officer said the Iraqi government has been receiving information that al-Zarqawi may have moved to neighbouring Iran after hot pursuit by US and Iraqi forces in western Iraq.

US - Newspaper publishes Muhammad cartoon

The Philadelphia Inquirer is the first major US newspaper to run one of the cartoons.

Bennett compared it to decisions in the past to publish photographs of the bodies of burned Americans hung from a bridge in Iraq, as well as a photograph by Andres Serrano showing a crucifix submerged in a jar of urine.

"You run it because there's a news reason to run it," Bennett said. "The controversy does not appear to have died down. It's still a news issue."

The Inquirer's decision apparently places it among a minority of American publications to publish the cartoon.

The Associated Press, the nation's largest wire service, declined Bennett's request to transmit photographs of the cartoon "because they didn't meet AP standards for acceptable content," Santiago Lyon, the news agency's director of photography, said in a statement.

Acceptable to Muslims, that is.

The protest started out peacefully, but turned violent after Islamic extremists tried to break though security barriers protecting the building.

Why? Muslims don't respect other religions, so why should people respect theirs. It works both ways folks.

Obviously the second sentence negates the first! Your papers paramount concern is not freedom of speech but your safety.

Well, Ms Gray, to quote the famous Ben Franklin:

"They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security"

Note the "essential liberty" and "temporary security". That is what Ms. Gray is supporting - she is advocating giving up an essential liberty for what is surely a temporary security.

France says it has carried out the first deportation of a foreigner convicted of taking part in the November riots that swept the country.

French Interior Minister Nicolas Sarkozy said a 22-year-old man had been flown back to Mali.

Why would France deport a "rioter"? I'm sure rioting is against the law in France but deportation is a little drastic isn't it?

And why were these people rioting?

UK - Police allow "suicide bombers" to protest

This is the madness of PC Britain.

In London, a crowd of 1,000 Muslims clutching orange placards demonstrated outside the Danish embassy. Two dressed as suicide bombers were allowed to stand next to a police van while officers - who had made no arrests the previous day - tried to prevent photographers from taking pictures of them.

So, Muslims find the cartoons offensive but we're suppose to tolerate this?

Can someone on the Left explain to me why you support a religion that does this:

A HRCP report “State of Human Rights in 2005” launched here on Saturday said that there was no change in official statistics showed an average of 1000 women died each year in ‘honour’ killings. As many as 366 women in the country suffered gang-rape or rape between November 2004 to August 2005. Far fewer women were registered as voters than men, while many in the Northern Areas continued to be denied their right to balloting by traditional elements.

And this is just in Pakistan. This happens in every Muslim country in the world.

Women in Saudi Arbaia are not allowed to drive and if they want to report spouse abuse they have to have their husbands permission first.

You are not allowed to bring Bibles into Saudi Arabia or openly wear a cross.

This is Islam, the religion the Left calls the religion of tolerance and peace. Whose name the Left claims means "peace" when in fact Islam means submission.

It's not just Islam the Left supports, they support Communists too. Sounds like the Left is anti-Democracy. Funny that.

Mark Steyn on why appeasing Muslims is killing us.

One day, years from now, as archaeologists sift through the ruins of an ancient civilization for clues to its downfall, they'll marvel at how easy it all was. You don't need to fly jets into skyscrapers and kill thousands of people. As a matter of fact, that's a bad strategy, because even the wimpiest state will feel obliged to respond. But if you frame the issue in terms of multicultural "sensitivity," the wimp state will bend over backward to give you everything you want -- including, eventually, the keys to those skyscrapers. Thus, Jack Straw, the British foreign secretary, hailed the "sensitivity" of Fleet Street in not reprinting the offending cartoons.

No doubt he's similarly impressed by the "sensitivity" of Anne Owers, Her Majesty's Chief Inspector of Prisons, for prohibiting the flying of the English national flag in English prisons on the grounds that it shows the cross of St. George, which was used by the Crusaders and thus is offensive to Muslims. And no doubt he's impressed by the "sensitivity" of Burger King, which withdrew its ice cream cones from its British menus because Rashad Akhtar of High Wycombe complained that the creamy swirl shown on the lid looked like the word "Allah" in Arabic script. I don't know which sura in the Koran says don't forget, folks, it's not just physical representations of God or the Prophet but also chocolate ice cream squiggly representations of the name, but ixnay on both just to be "sensitive."

Britain can't bend over far enough or fast enough and is banning books Muslims find offensive, Piglet too and banning ceramic pigs from butcher shop windows. It's not enough and Britain found out the hard way on 7/7. She still hasn't learned and it may be too late. As Steyn puts it:

One day the British foreign secretary will wake up and discover that, in practice, there's very little difference between living under Exquisitely Refined Multicultural Sensitivity and Sharia. As a famously sensitive Dane once put it, "To be or not to be, that is the question."

Britain has already begun adopting Sharia law.

A woman has died and three others have been injured after a series of stabbings on a bus in Israel.

Reports said that an Arab man boarded the bus in the central city of Petach Tikva and pulled out a knife before attacking some of the passengers.

Syria - Muslims burn embassies

That's the religion of peace and tolerance for you.

As usual, the BBC covers up for Muslims.

Syrians set fire to the Norwegian and Danish embassies in Damascus in protest at the publication of newspaper cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad.

True they are Syrians but the key fact is that they are Muslims.

Protesters had scaled the Danish site amid chants of "God is great", before moving on to attack the Norwegian mission.

Muslim protesters that is.

Syrians have staged sit-ins outside the Danish embassy since the row intensified earlier this week, when Damascus recalled its ambassador.

Yep, they're Syrians all right but again the important fact is that they are Muslims.

That's the BBC for you, always covering up for Muslims.

As I said, the Danes have done the world the greatest of service. By exercising their right to freedom of speech they have exposed Islam as a religion of intolerance and violence.

To Muslims, I say keep it up. You've lowered the veil and the world can see clearly now.

JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Gaza militants fired rockets into southern Israel on Friday, striking a house and injuring three people including a baby, rescue services said.

"Gaza militants"? Al Reuters doesn't want to associate Palestinian terrorists with injuring a baby.

And on...

Militant group Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility for the attack.

In fact, the word Palestinian doesn't appear anywhere in the article! It's as if they disappeared altogether.

Now, al Reuters actually go on to defend Palestinian terrorists.

Makeshift rockets shot from Gaza seldom cause any damage or injury. Israel often retaliates for those attacks that do cause casualties.

Shot from Gaza by who? Palestinian terrorists, that's who.

As for "seldom cause any damage or injury, I think all of these dead and injured innocent Israelis killed by Palestinian terrorists would disagree with that statement.

Al Reuters is moaning that Israel, in exercising its right to defend itself from Palestinain terrorists, is more accurate.

Note for al Reuters the key word here is "retaliates", as in response to an attack.

The London Times (UK) reports.

I'm all for freedom of expression and anyone's right to protest but openly calling for people to be murdered is against the law isn't it? There's a reason you can't yell fire in a crowded theater.

It's good the Times ran this article but they still refuse to publish the cartoons. They provide numberous weblinks to the cartoons but are too cowardly to print them themselves.

France - Left awakens to the Muslim danger

The Muslim apologizing Left may be finally awakening to the danger Islam poses to the west.

Libération, the left-leaning French daily, republished two of the cartoons, referring to them as "exhibits in the case" for free expression. "While criticizing the caricatures as mediocre, the newspaper said its decision had been taken out of a concern to reaffirm values which were being damaged in France. 'Libération defends the freedom of expression,' was the headline over the cartoons, one of which depicted the Prophet Mohammed on a cloud, telling suicide bombers to stop because heaven had run out of virgins." This one is just too good and I have to put it up on its own.

Here is a picture of a Muslim marching in London to protest the Danish cartoons of Muhammad. As he protests and exercises his freedom of expression, his sign reads "Freedom of expression go to hell". The irony is totally lost on him and I would dare say most Muslims.

Now, lefties what do you have to say in response?

Notice the young boy with the Europe: remember 9/11. He would have been what, about 5 or 6 at the time? This is how they raise their young, to hate the west and its freedoms, the very freedoms that guarantee their right to protest.

How ironic, the man holding the sign saying "freedom of expression go to hell" is doing just that - enjoying freedom of expression.

A freedom that was won in hard fought wars. Muslims now want to take away that right.

Norway - "The war is on"

Strange, the world condemns Israel for doing the very same thing.

INDIA is accelerating the construction of a 2,500-mile fence to seal its border with Bangladesh amid growing fears that its Muslim neighbour could become “a new Afghanistan”.

Indian officials and western diplomats have been alarmed by an increase in terrorist attacks by militant groups linked to Al-Qaeda and by the Dhaka government’s failure to crack down on them.

One group said to have links with the government claimed responsibility for 500 synchronised explosions in 63 of Bangladesh’s 64 districts in August.

UK - More Muslim protests due in cartoon row

Good! The more they protest the more Islam is exposed for the intolerant and violent religion that it is.

Among the images which have sparked outcry is one of Muhammad with a bomb-shaped turban on his head. Newspapers in Spain, Italy, Germany and France reprinted the material.

They have sparked protests across the Middle East.

And what did the protesters chant?

Some demonstrators chanted "7/7 is on its way" while also waving placards and burning flags, during a march through London to the Danish, French and German embassies.

So, the cartoonist were right.

Time for spineless Jack Straw to go.

"I believe that the republication of these cartoons has been insulting, it has been insensitive, it has been disrespectful and it has been wrong.

"There are taboos in every religion. It is not the case that there is open season in respect of all aspects of Christian rites and rituals in the name of free speech.

"Nor is it the case that there is open season in respect of rights and rituals of the Jewish religion, the Hindu religion, the Sikh religion.

Oh, really Jack? Trying taking a Bible into Saudi Arabia Mr. Straw.

Leading the charge of submission to Islam is the BBC. Having hired the former editor in chief of al Jazeera to train their reporters, the BBC now whitewashes Muslim or Islam out of every terror report and refuses to even use the word terror or terrorists.

The BBC went so far as to produce a program, "The Power of Nightmares" that claimed al Qaeda was a myth, an illusion, created by the US to scare the world to do their bidding. That myth, that illusion, came to life six months later in London when Muslim terrorists murdered over 50 innnocent Britons.

Is it too late for Britain? I fear it is but time will tell. For as Belmont notes:

The fine, broad highway to Hell that is political correctness which has achieved the opposite of its intent: not the universal chorus of harmony but religious conflict at its most primitive level.

And do not suppose this is the end.
This is the beginning of the reckoning.

But the words are only memories. The men who said them are gone and their heirs are not yet found.

Denmark stands up to Muslims

Good for them.

PARIS (Reuters) - Denmark said on Friday it could not apologise for cartoons in a Danish newspaper depicting the Prophet Mohammad as outrage spread across the Muslim world from the Middle East to countries in Asia.

More European newspapers published the cartoons on Friday, arguing freedom of speech was sacred, but angry Muslims staged violent protests against jokes they consider "blasphemous".

"Neither the Danish government nor the Danish nation as such can be held responsible for drawings published in a Danish newspaper," Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen said after meeting with Muslim envoys in Copenhagen.

"A Danish government can never apologise on behalf of a free and independent newspaper," he said. "This is basically a dispute between some Muslims and a newspaper."

The west wants freedom of speech. Here is what Muslims want.

Mona Omar Attia, Egypt's ambassador to Denmark, said after a meeting with Rasmussen that she was satisfied with the position of the Danish government but noted the prime minister had said he could not interfere with the press.

"This means the whole story will continue and that we are back to square one again. The government of Denmark has to do something to appease the Muslim world," Attia said.

That's what Muslims want, appeasment. Why? Because Islam means submission and not peace as the left would have you believe.

While tiny Denmark stands up to Muslims and refuses to submit, Britain chooes appeasement. A dangerous route with disasterous consequences as evidenced by the Islamization of Britain.

Not only has the publication by the Danes of the Muhammad cartoons exposed Muslims and Islam as intolerant and non-peaceful, they have exposed the US media as cowards and Muslim apologists.

The US media reached an "all-time low" in failing to reflect public opinion and Americans' desire for trusted information, instead acting as a "cheerleader" for war, said Amy Goodman, the executive producer and host of US TV and radio news show Democracy Now!, at a news forum organised by al-Jazeera.

It would have helped had the Guardian told you about Goodman's anti-war and anti-Bush stance and that Democracy Now is a left wing propaganda machine who think the media in the US haven't gone far enough to criticize Bush. Yeah, as if CBS's lame attempt to use forged documents to smear Bush wasn't enough.

Democracy Now's guest list is a who's who of the anti-war movement.

Newsweek's Paris bureau chief, Christopher Dickey, said the US media were dying because of cutbacks and weren't interested in covering the world outside America.

Er, no. They're dying because bloggers keep exposing the lies being put out by the lying left wing media.

If the BBC wasn't funded by taxes, they would cease to exist because of their lies and bias.

US - UPI's expert is Bush hater

Typical for the lying left wing media.

WASHINGTON, Jan. 31 (UPI) -- Body language is key to understanding U.S. President George Bush's belief in and comfort with delivering his State of the Union speech, a movement analyst says.

"Don't just listen to the words. Look at the dance he's doing with us," the University of Maryland's Karen Bradley told The New York Daily News. "The content of the words is important, and so is the way he's communicating them."

Bush tends to raise his shoulders when he's uncomfortable, Bradley said.

You'd think the lying left wing media would learn by now that the first thing bloggers do is fact check their "experts". Michelle did and guess what, Bradley is a left wing nut job.

In fact, Bradley is one of the chief contributors to the far Left "Democracy Cell Project." She cross-posts to the Daily Kos.

Most recently, she fumed after producing an anti-Bush event at the Capitol on Tuesday night:

"In the darkness which George Bush has led our country into, it is all too easy for people to yield to the siren song of despair and hopelessness. It does not help when someone says to you that you should not despair, that you should remain hopeful. What was powerful last night was not someone telling us to be hopeful; every person there could FEEL what it felt like to BE hopeful, to come together, to sing the praises of hope against the darkness, standing there bravely in front of the belly of the beast, mere dozens of yards away from the unspeakable foulness of the theatre taking place in the House of Representatives.

Without hope, we have nothing. With hope, we can change the world."

The Daily News did not reveal to readers Bradley's radical, anti-Bush activist leanings.

Karen: We did the planning for the Filibuster event that was ultimately canceled at the last minute. From doing that, we set up a team of concerned citizens who would become proficient at setting up such events in DC. We also ran the Cindy Sheehan vigil at the White House, in concert with Camp Casey. We also worked with a number of groups on events like the September 24 mobilization and the vigils in front of the White House for the 2,000th soldier killed in Iraq.

This story reminded me of the time I caught the BBC using a well known anti-war activist to fabricate a story alleging war crimes by US troops.

That's the lying left wing media for you.

UK - BBC shows Muhammad cartoons

Here's a shock.

The BBC has involved itself in a growing Europe-wide controversy by broadcasting cartoons of the prophet Muhammad that have caused outrage in the Islamic world and led to the sacking of a French newspaper editor.

The corporation showed the images as they appeared in French newspaper France Soir as part of a story on the controversy on today's One O'Clock News bulletin and on the News 24 channel.

If you go to the BBC's main webpage and click on the watch news in video on the top left, then click on the news bulletiens,1, 6 and 10 oclock news, you'll see the video of newscast which carried the cartoons - barely. The screen was dark, the cartoons barely visible and lasted a few seconds. But still they showed them.

And channel 5 looks set to do the same.

The Channel Five news controller, Chris Shaw, told MediaGuardian.co.uk that his channel planned to show the cartoons in its 5.30pm bulletin, but only in the context of the images used in yesterday's edition of the French newspaper France Soir.

Europe stands up to Muslims

Good for them.

Where is the US media in all of this? Freedom of speech is one of the foundations of America. Come on American media reprint these cartoons and stand up to Muslims and for freedom of speech.

Newspapers across Europe have reprinted caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad to show support for a Danish paper whose cartoons have sparked Muslim outrage.

Seven publications in France, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy and Spain all carried some of the drawings.

Leave it to the BBC to side with the Muslims and against free speech. The BBC's have your say webpage asks this question: "Should 'anti-Islam' cartoons have been published?".

They're not "anti-Islamic". They represent freedom of speech.

While France's newspaper sacked their editor:

"Other papers stood by their publication. In Berlin, Die Welt argued there was a right to blaspheme in the West, and asked whether Islam was capable of coping with satire.

"The protests from Muslims would be taken more seriously if they were less hypocritical," it wrote in an editorial."

I think he's referring to Muslim crimes against Christians and the Islamization of Britain.

It's not just these cartoons Muslims want banned, they want Piglet banned as well, simply because he is a pig. Some banks in Britain have banned piggy banks because they offend Muslims. Where does it end people?

Correspondents say the European papers' actions have widened a dispute which has grown very serious for Denmark.

A standard BBC bias trick, "correspondents say". Would that be BBC correspondents by the way? The papers haven't widened the dispute, Muslims have with their intolerance - again.

The Danish-Swedish dairy giant Arla Foods says its sales in the Middle East have plummeted to zero as a result of the row, which sparked a boycott of Danish products across the region.

Here's some interesting comments the BBC don't want you to hear.

Editors of French and German papers that republished them said press freedom was more important than the protests and boycotts the cartoons have sparked across the Muslim world.

And

"Enough lessons from these reactionary bigots!" France Soir editor Serge Faubert wrote in a commentary explaining why his newspaper had printed the cartoons.

"Just because the Koran bans images of Mohammed doesn't mean non-Muslims have to submit to this." [Damn right! .ed]

Germany's Die Welt printed a similar piece to accompany the cartoons.

It said: "There is no right to be shielded from satire in the West. Christianity has been the object of ruthless criticism.

"Being able to make fun of the holiest things is a non-negotiable core tradition in our culture."

Stand up to Muslims, for freedom of speech and buy Danish!

Yesterday Roger Köppel, editor-in-chief of Die Welt, said he had no regrets. He told the Guardian: "It's at the very core of our culture that the most sacred things can be subjected to criticism, laughter and satire. If we stop using our journalistic right of freedom of expression within legal boundaries then we start to have a kind of appeasement mentality. This is a remarkable issue. It's very important we did it. Without this there would be no Life of Brian."

"Appesement mentality". That and freedom of speech is what this is all about.

It is necessary to crush once again the infamous thing, as Voltaire liked to say. This religious intolerance that accepts no mockery, no satire, no ridicule. We citizens of secular and democratic societies are summoned to condemn a dozen caricatures judged offensive to Islam. Summoned by who? By the Muslim Brotherhood, by Syria, the Islamic Jihad, the interior ministers of Arab countries, the Islamic Conferences - all paragons of tolerance, humanism and democracy.

So, we must apologise to them because the freedom of expression they refuse, day after day, to each of their citizens, faithful or militant, is exercised in a society that is not subject to their iron rule. It's the world upside down. No, we will never apologise for being free to speak, to think and to believe.

Bravo! Bravo! And shame on the BBC for signing up to this Muslim nonsense.

France - Muhammad cartoon editor is sacked

Because the newspaper owner has no balls.

Publications in Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain re-ran the Danish cartoons.

However France Soir owner Raymond Lakah said in a statement to AFP he "decided to remove Jacques Lefranc as managing director of the publication as a powerful sign of respect for the intimate beliefs and convictions of every individual".


"We express our regrets to the Muslim community and all people who were shocked by the publication."

No, Soir, we're shocked you caved in.

Good for Germany, Italy and Spain for standing up to Muslims and for free speech. The rest of the world should publish them as a sing of solidarity for free speech.

US - Katrina: La. Turned Down Feds' Help

As I've said all along the more we know about the Katrina disaster the more we will find almost all of the blame lies with the state and local officials and not the Feds.

Two days before the Aug. 29 storm, HHS was told by the state's health emergency preparedness director that the help was not needed, [in evacuating the nursing homes where many later died] according to an e-mail released Monday by a Senate panel investigating the government's response to Katrina.

The state official, identified in the Aug. 27 e-mail as Dr. Roseanne Pratts, "responded no, that they do not require anything at this time and they would be in touch if and when they needed assistance," wrote HHS senior policy analyst Erin Fowler.

It gets worse.

The committee also released a Senate interview of Louisiana Transportation Secretary Johnny Bradberry, during which he told investigators "we have done nothing to fulfill this responsibility" of ensuring evacuation plans are in place for at-risk populations.

"We put no plans in place to do any of this," Bradberry said in the Dec. 21 interview, 12 pages of which were released by the Senate committee.

You won't see any of this on the BBC and MSM in the US will ignore it as well.
