Scared half to death, the security forces lock themselves behind the barricades from The Guardian

Rory McCarthy in Falluja

It should come as no surprise that the Iraqi security forces in Falluja are scared half to death.

If it is no surprise, why the sensational headline Rory?

It was the most gruesome attack against Americans in Iraq since the war last year, and a horror whose images clash conspicuously with US talk of progress and rebuilding. (my emphasis)

Notice how he tries to imply the coalition is lying. And it is not just "talk" Rory. Reporters and papers like yours make me sick. There is a tremendous amount of progress being made in Iraq. From hospitals to schools, water and electricity and despite the problems in a few areas like Falluja, most areas are seeing improvements.

You see Rory, bad news sells and that is why you write garbage like this. Yes we want to know what is going on in Iraq, good and bad, but why not tell the whole story. Example:

This Sunni town, 40 miles west of Baghdad, has produced the most violent resistance to America's occupation of Iraq. There have been dozens of fatal attacks on US troops and Iraqi police, who are regarded by many locals as little more than collaborators. In turn, dozens more Iraqi civilians have died in American raids and military operations.

How about letting the readers know that this area is mainly populated by Sadam's old guard. They lost their privileged positions of oppression and the good life. They don't like having to live like they made their fellow country men live for over 35 years.

I'll stop there because it is full of the usual anti-American rant. These people have no shame. Hey! Rory! Get a real job!
