Ex-US officials urge Bush defeat

From The BBC

A group of retired US ambassadors and senior military figures is set to urge voters to remove President George Bush from office in this year's election.

They are scheduled to release a statement on Wednesday attacking the president's foreign policy.

The 26 former officials - Diplomats and Military Commanders for Change - aired their views in interviews this week.

And just who is this "band of brothers"? The BBC only names three but after a long search of the internet I finally found a partial list of names. But let's start with the three named by the BBC.

Ambassador Phyllis Oakley (spokesperson) (Former Asst. Sec of State for Intelligence and Research) - worked for Clinton (that should tell you all you need to know) as Assistant Secretary of State for Intelligence and Research and had this to say in her
Testimony before the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence Washington DC, January 28, 1998

"Compared with threats in our own recent past and with those currently facing many nations, the threats we face today are less direct and more diffuse."

Of course a few years later we had 9/11.

Admiral William Crowe - In September 1992, three years after retirement from the Navy, Crowe stepped up to a microphone to endorse the presidential candidacy of Democrat Bill Clinton, who had assiduously avoided military service during Vietnam.

Admiral Stansfield Turner - Director of the CIA under Jimmy Carter. That definitely says all you need to know about him.

Here is a partial list of the rest.
