Toolis is correct but he makes some mistakes, mistakes that could be fatal.
IF the Islamic fanatics who bombed London ever achieved their aims and took power, Britain would become an Iranian-style Islamic Republic.
Toolis goes on to describe the draconian life we would be forced to live under if such a thing came about. Where he errs is in claiming this would come about if "Islamic fanatics" came to power. We would be forced to live this life style if any Muslims came to power. You only have to look at any Muslim country to see that.
Toolis goes on to describe how some things might change in the future should, in his words, "Islamic fanatics" take over. But what he describes is not occurring in some barbaric future Islamic state. It is happening here and now.
All other religious groups, from Christians to Jews, would be expected to adopt the same sort of rules. The Koran, not a constitution or a legal system, would be regarded as the only source of authority or justice.
That's how Muslims act today, Toolis.
Those who blasphemed or criticized it - such as author Salman Rushdie - would be executed.
This is exactly what happens in Muslim countries today and Britain wants to enact laws to prevent criticizing Islam.
Next, Toolis takes aim at what he perceives is the root cause of the problem and hits close to the target. Toolis starts out portraying bin Laden's war on the west as a defensive war against Western aggression and misses the target. He then states that what bin Laden is really after is an Islamic empire and hits the target. Next, Toolis reverts to the "it's a defensive war" by bin Laden and misses the target again. What Toolis fails to accurately articulate is that bin Laden is engaged in an offensive war whose aim is Islamic world domination, needs to be financed by the world's oil supply and America and Britain are standing in his way.
At the root of the Islamic philosophy of Osama bin Laden and his followers is the belief that America and its allies, such as Britain, are occupying Muslim lands and waging a modern-day Christian crusade against Islam.
Osama bin Laden wants to turn the historical clock back to the 13th century when the Islamic empire of the Ottomans stretched from the deserts of China to Spain and to the gates of Vienna in Austria. These fanatics believe that the presence of US and British troops in Iraq and Saudi Arabia is just part of the United States' plan to dominate the world and control the world's oil supplies.
The fundamental flaws of not grasping the true nature of Islam and the true nature of bin Laden's offensive war by the world, could be fatal flaws. But Toolis seems to arrive at the conclusion, eventually.
If they won their war of terror, bin Laden would take control of the oil wealth of Saudi Arabia, expel all American troops from Iraq and wipe the Jewish state of Israel off the map. They want Islam, not the United States, to rule the world and they are prepared to use any means - terrorism, hijacking and suicide bombing - to further their aim.
What Toolis leaves out is the use of any means includes weapons of mass destruction.
Toolis goes on to describe a state of affairs we should all be worried about and he even seems to support the recently watered down anti-terrorist detention laws.
On the surface, these elements suggest that the London attackers are likely to come from within Britain's own Islamic communities rather than be sleeper cells sent from abroad.
Fighting such terror cells, and suicide bombers, is a huge intelligence task. By the time the terrorists are ready to plant the bombs it is too late.
In a very brutal way, a suicide bomber is just a means of delivering a bomb and a puppet of the recruiters and organizers who send him.
The only real way to stop similar terrorist outrages is to find and eliminate the leaders while they are planning their atrocities.
Which is what the original anti-terrorist laws were designed to do. But Britain seems bent on Muslim appeasement and the laws were watered down.
It's taken him most of the article but Toolis finally gets around to blaming someone - America.
The fuel for this home-grown fanaticism has been America's support for Israel in the Middle East and the invasion of Iraq.
No it isn't. There is no doubt that the recruiters and handlers of these terrorists are brainwashing their recruits with this nonsense. Toolis has just vindicated them.
If what Toolis claims is true, how does he account for over 4000 murders by Muslims reaching back over decades; many before Afghanistan or Iraq? See here.
Toolis tries to redeem himself.
If the Arab-Israeli conflict was successfully resolved, this would weaken support for the fanatics' cause and help stabilize an inflamed region. But it would not make the threat disappear entirely.
The men who planted bombs on London's Tube and a bus to kill and maim did so because they see everything about the West as corrupt and evil. Killing the innocent was just part of their greater crusade.
They think they are fighting for the future of the entire world, for a universal Islamic state that will rule every human life. We must do all in our power to destroy them before they try again to destroy our way of life.
Well Toolis, you can start be realizing that we are engaged in a world war against Islam whose sole goal is to impose and Islamic state on the world and they will use any means, including nuclear, to achieve their goal.
Then you can stop blaming America and acknowledge that Israel and the Middle east are simply red herrings designed by Muslims to split the west.
Next, admit that the war in Afghanistan and Iraq are defensive wars on our part to stop the spread of Islam. Acknowledge that it is better to fight terrorists in Afghanistan and Iraq than in London and support Britain and America in their efforts.
Finally, name the enemy. You cannot fight an enemy that you don't acknowledge. Everything Toolis has said here points to the enemy but he does not name it. Admit that Islam is the enemy here.
If everyone did this, we would be well on our way to winning this war.
