America - Muslim scholars call anti-terror fatwa flawed

You may recall that two leading Islamic groups in America issued a fatwa against terrorism. The fatwa was quickly exposed as fake as both groups have ties to terrorism and it was so vague as to be meaningless.

Now it seems other US Islamic scholars argee.

Several American Muslim academics now say that the edict, or fatwa, was so broad it was meaningless, and should have denounced specific terrorist groups including al-Qaida. Critics also said the declaration seemed geared more toward improving the faith's image rather than starting an honest discussion about Islamic teaching.

Which is exactly what it is.
