Rescued or released; there is a difference

From The Sun we get this about a British man kidnapped in Iraq:

Gary, 37, was found by special forces as they stormed a flat after a tip-off by locals. His legs were tied and he had injuries from the rope. But he was otherwise unhurt, although suffering from shock.

So, the special forces rescued him after a tip off from locals. But you wouldn't know any of that if all you did was visit the BBC website. Here is how they report it:

He was handed over to Italian troops early on Sunday and taken to a field hospital for medical checks.

By saying he was "handed over" the BBC tries to make the bad guys look good and by leaving out the "tip off from locals", they hide the fact that Iraqis are cooperating with the coalition.

I will pop a bottle of champagne when this despicable organization is disbanded.
