Holly Graf: Navy Relieves Harsh Commander of USS Cowpens

This is a sad story to be sure, but someone else ought to go to jail for naming a US warship "Cowpens". I don't care if there is a valid reason for doing so. As a Navy man I would have done all I could not to serve on a ship with such a name.

Related, same goes for whoever is responsible for naming a US "attack" submarine after Carter.

She should have joined the Corps. She would have been the 1st female Commandant.
Foul words, throwing things, that the Marine Corps way.
The person crying about the paper wad being tossed at them must have broken a nail trying to duck.

USS Cowpens is named for a decisive American victory in the Revolutionary War. It is an honorable name, though perhaps comical to the ignorant.

As I said in the post, I don't care what the ship is named after. Sailors care very much about the name of their ship. No US warship should be named "Cowpens".
