Who signed Max Cleand's letter and more importantly, who did not

Here is a list of who signed Max Cleland's letter accusing Bush of "character assassination".

The senators signing the letter included Daniel Inouye of Hawaii, Ernest "Fritz" Hollings of South Carolina, Tom Harkin of Iowa, Jack Reed of Rhode Island, Tom Carper of Delaware and Jon Corzine and Frank Lautenberg, both of New Jersey.

Sen. Tom Harkin's name stands out for two reasons.

First, he, like Kerry, has lied about his service in Viet Nam, Harkin was never in Viet Nam even though he claimed he flew combat missions there.

Second, Harking called Cheney a "coward" for getting a draft deferrment, which I would say qualifies as character assassination. By his standards, Clinton would also be a coward and all who got a deferrment. Harking has since been dropped by Kerry on the campaign trail.

More importantly, look who is not a signatory - Sen. John McCain!
