British hostage begs Blair to call off Iraq redeployment

Or does she???

From AFP which should tell you something to start with.

DOHA (AFP) - Kidnapped British aid worker Margaret Hassan begged Prime Minister Tony Blair (news - web sites) to save her life by scrapping the planned redeployment of British troops and pulling them out of Iraq (news - web sites).

How does AFP know this?

"Ask Mr Blair to pull the (British) forces out of Iraq and not to bring them to Baghdad," she said, addressing the British people in other comments which were only audible through an Arabic voiceover.

So the headline is misleading at best. Ms. Hassan is not heard asking Mr. Blair to pull British forces out of Iraq, an Arabic voice is heard asking Mr. Blair.

Remember this anytime you read anything from AFP.

UPDATE: Right on cue The BBC get it wrong as well.
