UK - British paper publishes Muhammad cartoons

And is promptly shredded even though it was a student newspaper.

"The students' union very much regrets any upset caused or disrespect shown by the publication of the controversial cartoon and has taken immediate action by promptly withdrawing all copies of this week's edition of Gair Rhydd at the earliest moment possible."

She said a "majority" of the 10,000 copies printed had been collected and would be shredded. Fewer than 200 copies of the edition, distributed on Saturday, remained unaccounted for.

As Harry notes:

Whatever one thinks of the original decision by the Danish paper to publish these cartoons and whatever one thinks of the cartoons themselves, isn't there something disturbing about a British newspaper, even a student one, being shredded to avoid giving offence to a religious group?

Yes there is. Isn't this precisely what happened in olden times with "the Church"? We are marching backwards to the dark ages where Islam resides.
